I have been tasked by the wife to "sort out a bl**dy mattress!"

Trouble is, I have no idea what to look out for when it comes to this sort of thing! I know its a double sized bed and that's it! :D

Any pointers or advice? Any trusted places online to shop or should I just pop down to the loal bed shop? :search:

I have been looking into matteresses, if you want, go for a high end memory matteress which will set you back about 700 quid.

Otherwise go for a standard one which should be about a ton and a half.

There may be a which?! guide to matteresses.

I hope that you have many happy years on your new one, but ask her if she needs the feel of springs under her.

£700 for a memory foam mattress? *boggles*

A friend had one delivered for £350! For a King Size bed. Shop around and find one but lay on one first. I and the missus like it and we're going to get one shortly. Another friend absolutely hated the sinking/settling feeling of them.

:yeahthat:

I am waiting on one getting delivered today/tomorrow. As Sarahs Dad bought one a few months ago and said they are brilliant.

This is the one I bought, £249 from Littlewoods Direct

I spent £1100 on my matress which I must say is extremely comfortable.

It's strange that people should want to buy a cheap matress when you consider that you spend on average 8 hours a night on it.

Thats a considerable part of your life. Its sleep that helps keep you feeling refreshed and healthy.

A better matress means better sleep and more energy during the daytime.

We have a memory foam as well and they are excellent.

Great if you suffer with a bad back too.

The only draw back is they store heat so in the summer can be a bit hot to sleep in, if you don't like being toasty when sleeping.

Even now with minus night temps, we are using our summer duvet and in the summer just a sheet or nothing at all.

I would advise to be careful of buying to cheap as they tend not to disapate the heat as well.

You won't regret getting one, but don't be a tight arse;)

I'm sure you could buy a crappy one for a lot less.

I bought 2 @ £200 each, at the same time, and quite honestly they didn't really last that long before I was getting prodded in the back (and not by a homosexual)

Methinks you'll get something decent(ish) for under £700, but I guess google is your...etc etc :)

We recently bought a pocket sprung mattress with memory foam on the top......;) I sleep better than I ever have, until the baby strarts screaming at 3am...!!

Point is, get a good quality mattress as you'll spend a thrid of your life on it......;)

What kind of price was it Paul?

About 2 years ago I bought one of these mattresses from these people off eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-DOUBLE-AIRFLOW-OUTLAST-MEMORY-MATTRESS-RRP-1299_W0QQitemZ190280663737QQihZ009QQcategoryZ20479QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 It is a brilliant mattress and has the Outlast material that regulates your body temperature. When I was buying it I found out that they get the mattresses from a company that supplies mattresses for hospitals costing over £1000. They are different from sprung mattresses but go to a bed shop/department store and try out a Tempur mattress and see what you think :hi:

Damn you sir!

Since reading this thread a few hours ago- I've just bought a bleedin' mattress :D

As Havard said the pocket spring & memory foam combo seems to be a very good combination.

Mine is Kingsize (strange really as I'm not much taller than a dwarf) and here's the link: http://www.bedlum-beds.co.uk/product/LA-ROMANTICA-Madrid-Memory-Foam-and-Pocket-Sprung-King-Size-Mattress.-439.00/

I really fancied a new digital camera :(
