Bossco
Does anyone know if the J-spec calipers are the same for a TT as they are an N/A? Cheers.

dani_r
People panic when they hear the word JSpec calipers! It's fine for an NA, but for a TT it'd be better to have the UK Spec ones, although I haven't seen any data which gives any accurate readings on stopping distances. (anyone got this?) Agree with this. I have them on my TT and personally the only time I have a problem is when they fade after a couple of hard braking events, I certainly wouldn't call them dangerous, obviously compared to UK's they're not as good but they're not that bad, unless your at naughty speeds;)
Homer
They are the same. Correctly working jspec brakes with good (stock) discs, new fluid and some correctly specced pads will cover you for almost anything on the road. I've done hard stops from very high speed without problem, but they are not good for track days. You just have to be aware that once you have done a hard stop they need time to cool down. I've driven some cars with jspec brakes that have been absolutely appauling (even cars from long term members here), likewise I've driven ones with UK brakes which have been equally as bad. It's not the brake setup thats the normally the problem, it's worn or poorly chosen components.
miko_supra
what makes JDM calipers deadly? Mine are deadly. Probably due to a combination of warped discs and crap pads. But wheres the fun in stopping ey? Seriously though im not even driving the thing at the moment... it struggled to stop on the run down at santa pod:blink:

miko_supra
hi can you have uk on rear and jspec on front is that ok Yes, although a bit pointless just upgrading the rear
Homer
hi can you have uk on rear and jspec on front is that ok No, thats not advisable at all as the rears will overpower the fronts. UK fronts and smaller rears is done quite often and from reports from people here doesn't seem to upset the brake balance too much.

dani_r
Brakes... the enemy of speed! Perhaps! But they'll be your best friend when you wanna stop yourself if you lose it doing light speed!
Bossco
Thanks Homer. I had a feeling they would be the same.
