T-I-G-G-E-R
Hi hope you guys can help i have owned my Supra for a year now and love Roxy to bits but just recently I am having a very strange problem as soon as i put any heat on to demist the window's I get a very strange milky fog instantly onto my windscreen and then I can't see a thing not good in these cold month's. What ever I try on the heater controls settings I cannot demist my windscreen and now the weather's getting colder all my window's are completely misted up in second's. I have tried blowing cold air onto them with no heat and after a couple of wipe's while driving I have half a windscreen that I can see out of ,this is with using the blower on full blast and no heating at all as you can imagine i'm wearing a bloody big coat [GRIN]. Some pics of Roxy help put a smile back on my face Cheer's Carl
Homer
Are you losing any engine coolant? Also check the passenger footwell for any sign of moisture (even pull back the carpet and check carefully) It might be a sign of the dreaded heater matrix failure
Ewen
do you have the blower set on recirc by any chance ?
Jake
Yep, that'll be a leaking heater matrix. Bad luck mate

Paul372
windscreen mist up quickly when they are dirty, try and give your windows a good clean frist but use windscreen cleaner for cars on house hold stuff beacuse that makes the windows mist up quickly

gavin.starr
i changed mine myself absolute pig of a job but well worth saving the pennies. dont attempt it unless you feel pretty confident there is a walk through on here somewhere which i followed and i got through it ok but im an aircraft fitter so im used to doing tricky jobs. took my time over two days last winter so was very cold when doing it, but was well worth it once it was done. gav

T-I-G-G-E-R
Cheer's for all you advice my passenger footwell carpet is very wet and sticky that will the anti freeze i'm guessing ,so it looks like it's the heater matrix leaking. I'm a marine engineer here in cornwall and I teach engine building in a local college so after looking at the guide i'm going to do it myself.[GRIN][/GRIN] Just one question why do you have to empty the gas on the air con side of thing's:( Cheer's Carl
T-I-G-G-E-R
Hi guy's looking for a temporary fix for my heater matrix anyone tried this? BARS LEAKS or RadWeld C16 - 10 Oz. Liquid Radiator Stop Leak FUNCTION - Stop Radiator & Cooling Leaks DOSAGE - One Bottle for 6, 8, and 10 Cylinder Cooling Systems p/n C16 (10 FL. OZ.) The Problem: The Solution: Radiator Leaks Freeze Plug Leaks Gasket Leak Heater Coil Leak:d Seals Leaks Conditions Cooling System Inhibits Rust and Corrosion Lubricates Water Pump Seal Helps Control Electrolysis Chee'rs Carl
stevie_b
Sorry to hear about your probable heater matrix problem. I'm not a fan of Radweld or similar products, on principle. I tried it on a Rover Metro once and I *think* it exacerbated an overheating problem. I guess some people think it's OK otherwise they wouldn't still sell it. After using that stuff, you might need to clean out the coolant system and radiator where it's bunged up some of the narrow passageways. AlanM
I would not use any of that sealant. Better, as a temp fix to bypass the matrix
Chris Wilson
Madness, even if it did temporarily cure the matrix leak it will be at the very real risk of blocking steam holes in the head gasket and causing even more, serious, cooling issues. Either fit a brand new matrix or just join the engine to matrix pipes together and wear a warm coat, gloves and hat, and carry some anti mist stuff and LOTS of de-icer In reality you have no viable options other than fix it, sell it as is (worth sod all), or take it off the road until the summer and struggle without proper heat and de misting.
