Supra-Brett
hi peps.got a banging sound when i put a full look on.the stearing is fine when i am driving its just when i am parking.any idears what it could be? its been on a ramp for a quick look but they didnt see anythink.thanks. Wider tyre on the front often lead to a "jumpy" sort of bounce when turning and moving slowly. If its been up on a ramp then you likley couldnt see if the wheels were banging on the inside of the wheel arch liner, like you could if the suspension is under load. I will hazard a guess that you have at least a 235 tyre or more on the car. With a 235 and the correct off set you should be OK, wrong offset and you will gat banging/rubbage. Wider than 235 and you are getting into arches rolled territory and removal of arch liner.
AdzC
Mine had what you are describing when my front lowere ball joint had split. Unfortunately they can't be isolated and replaced so a new lowere control arm was needed.
Guest davidl200
how much did lowere control arm cost. if it is that is it safe to drive?
AdzC
Can't remember off the top of my head, in region of about £150 inc delivery. I got it from Steve Manley from Toyota Oxford who is a top bloke and recommended off here. I would get it checked out though because it may not be that part at fault (hopefully something cheaper). Part numbers are: RH Lower control arm - 48068-14080 LH Lower control arm - 48069-14080 I believe Paul Whiffin (Whifbitz) can supply and is also very competitive. miko_supra
Ok thanks for that. I will get it looked at. Contact "keron" off of here, he should be able to supply you with a second hand arm for a good price if you dont want to fork out a load on a new arm
