banging sound

hi peps.got a banging sound when i put a full look on.the stearing is fine when i am driving its just when i am parking.any idears what it could be? its been on a ramp for a quick look but they didnt see anythink.thanks.

Wider tyre on the front often lead to a "jumpy" sort of bounce when turning and moving slowly.

 

If its been up on a ramp then you likley couldnt see if the wheels were banging on the inside of the wheel arch liner, like you could if the suspension is under load.

 

I will hazard a guess that you have at least a 235 tyre or more on the car. With a 235 and the correct off set you should be OK, wrong offset and you will gat banging/rubbage. Wider than 235 and you are getting into arches rolled territory and removal of arch liner.

Can't remember off the top of my head, in region of about £150 inc delivery. I got it from Steve Manley from Toyota Oxford who is a top bloke and recommended off here.

 

I would get it checked out though because it may not be that part at fault (hopefully something cheaper).

 

Part numbers are:

 

RH Lower control arm - 48068-14080

LH Lower control arm - 48069-14080

 

I believe Paul Whiffin (Whifbitz) can supply and is also very competitive.
