Firestorm
Hey guys, For those of you who like watching or playing live music in the UK this is a biggy. The government wanan introduce mandatory noise db meters in clubs, but they cut really early and its sucks for live music http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/NoNoiseControl/ sign this help stop them passing this stupid law. Thanks Pete
supra_aero
Whats the noise limit though? I hate having venues where my ears ring the next day. If its a ban to protect my ears from that, I don't see whats wrong with it. That said, ministry of sound in London has a phenomenal sound system, which is very loud! Scoboblio
'This will be the final NAIL for ALL entertainment in the UK' Oh no! Bit dramatic isn't it? There's not much detail on there.
Firestorm
tottaly overdramtic, but i know of bands, and venues where they do cut really low. i think its just another example of the nanny state ya know. i can understand the hearing thing as im a drummer but if its gonna cut quite low then its really a pain, but the other thing is i think they are gonna introduce the re-licensing of venue to play music, which means a reduction for venues that can put live bands on. Animal
My other guitarist was on about this the other day. He reckoned it could be around 75dB, which would be crazy. I think this is already enforced in some US states, as I seem to recall comments about not being able to play certain venues as the speakers just cut out after a certain level. Need to go and investigate this one.
Ark
Depending on the chosen DB limit, I cautiously support this limiting - some places seem to employ sound engineers who know how to use one knob - the volume control. I'm sure it's done me some hearing damage, but that is over the course of 50-60 live shows.
Animal
I agree to an extent. I've seen far too many bands playing in pubs or wherever that completely overpower the room. You'll see 'em in a tiny club with a huge backline, all the drums mic'd up and everything set to '11' - totally unnecessary, but at the same time, any council enforced limits would have to be appropriate otherwise all you'll hear are the drums. Firestorm
i do agree with that cos it sucks when you cant hear your band. But then we have to b careful we not overly controlled by the nanny state!
