Matt Harwood
As the title says. I don't know what fluid is in my gearbox at the moment but I know it's been serviced by Toyota. I'm guessing it's going to be either Type II or Type IV. I've got some type IV to put in but will it mix ok with the older stuff or do I need to empty the entire box? (which I don't want to do!). Thanks for any help.
Terminator
Matt there was a big discussion on here some time back, in the Mycroft days. As I recall he posted or referred to some Toyota technical paper that said Type IV was a replacement for Type II and compatible. I don't think Type III is compatible with Type IV. My local Toyota garage told me to stick Type III in which was wrong. You need to check with the Toyota garage and see if the can tell you what was put in. eyefi
i tried 4 different toyota/lexus dealers none had or used type t4 fluid, they all used dex3. i would be supprised if they used toyota fluids at all.
