RB25DET: Low oil pressure at idle

Multics

Recommended Posts

I'm getting a bit worried about oil pressure.

I have a prosport electronic oil pressure gauge mounted on a sandwich plate. With 10w60 oil (pretty think, higher pressures in general) at 80C, I only see 1.4bar on idle (650rpm). However at 1500rpm, pressure rises at 3bar then at 3000rpm it's at 5bar etc. I'm only worried about the low pressure at low rpm's even with a thick oil like 10w60...

Oil pump on its way out? Oil relief valve?

Cheers

RB25DE is 1.0 at idle, 3.3@2000RPM and 5.3@6000RPM

RB25DET is 1.0 at idle, 3.5@2000RPM and 5.6@6000RPM

RB26DETT is 1.5 at idle, 3.0@2000RPM and 4.6@6000RPM

Just breaking mine , your are probably better asking on skylineowners.com . In the summer mine when hot used to sit on the first white mark its nothing to worry about I thought the same long as when you are on the loud pedal its got good pressure think mine sat at around the half way mark 4 when on the track I never had a problem after 4 years of hard use so I wouldnt worry.Ps I used 10w 40 mobil one in the end, tried lots of other silkolene etc
