Fire148
Some thieving scumbags tried to steal our Legacy last night ... they managed to get into the car with no signs of any damage, and then made a mess of the ignition barrel trying to start it. The big red flashing light on the immobiliser didnt give them a clue that breaking the ignition would get them nowhere ... needless to say they gave up and left us the mess to clear up I'm so annoyed, not because they tried to steal it ... but because we normally sleep with a window slightly open just for such things (club hammer to the ready etc etc), but last night it was closed. How typical is that ... we have a gravel drive for them to 'crunch along' with security lights. But failed miserably last night to hear or see them. The Legacy has just gone to the local scooby centre to be looked at, but no doubt the ignition barrel is trashed and we will need to buy a new one as well as new locks all round. Sorry to hear that mate, the world is full of scum!
merckx
Sorry to hear that, the punishments just aren't severe enough for scum like this. I'm not sure if I would bother buying new locks all round especially if you've got remote central locking.

Axle
Have you reported it to Police?
supra_aero
That is annoying - I assume the alarm didn't go off or the disabled it? Since fitting my TRD bonnet the alarm is VERY loud.
benkei
At least they didn't get it mate. Would be worse if you posted up that some scum had actually stollen your Legacy rather than having attempted and failed. Still gutting though. Fire148
Thanks for all the comments ... The legacy only has an immobiliser ... so no alarm to sound. But if they had started it then I would have heard it instantly as its a little louder than it should be No doubt they would have been away before I got to them and then you have me chasing them in the Supra ... guess that would be one way to get both cars written off in one go as there as is no way on this planet that I would let them get away (not risking joe public lives of course)... Anyway, back in reality, ignition barrel is broken, so we are just waiting for the price... will consider the option of getting a new key just for the ignition as it does have central locking. Have also just been quoted £499 by Gap Security for a new Clifford 650 ... so that's probably going on. I did look over the doors and locks and could not see a single mark to indicate how they opened the door ... maybe a wire slid in somewhere or what, but zero scratches ??? They even closed the door after they gave up ... maybe they had to close it to walk past the car, but if I was stealing cars I dont think I would be closing doors on failed attempts ... They clearly only wanted the car as nothing inside was touched inc. face off stereo / cds etc etc. We might have to invest in some physical security , like the metal poles that sink into the ground but dont want to get paranoid just yet Chav theiving scum coward mother shagging dog excrement hand jobbing tossers ! Who drove it last? If its wifey ask her if she remembered to lock the car. As for the closing of the door... at least they had manners. Fire148
Who drove it last? If its wifey ask her if she remembered to lock the car. Well, that did cross my mind but she says she locked it ... difficult to say anything other than 'are you sure ?'

Does that sound a bit pricey to anyone else? I'm sure my mate only paid about £250-£300 for his Clifford 650 on his MR2 tubby.
