Toyota Supra

Sadly the Supra got early retirement from the UK market in 1997 just when it got really good with a variable valve engine, which apparently explains the preference among buyers in the know for grey imports. Also Japanese spec Supras come in all sorts of different flavours like the SZR six-speed non-turbo, Recaro-seated RZ and the targa topped Aerotop.

What is the preferance with the Variable valve timing then?

Rx7 part of the article is misleading.

They are poorly built at least the early models were until the 97 facelift - interior wise; and they reach 60 quicker than 6 seconds.

And they are not great value, although cheap to buy - they are incredibly expensive to insure, run and maintain.

That article is incorrect. The UK spec was discontinued in mid '96 and to be clear you could never get a UK spec facelift and so no vvti etc.

The vvti engine isn't a lot different according to people that have driven / owned both and the dyno figures would only suggest slightly better midrange torque. It was probably an emissions aid as much as anything else...

Cheers,

Brian.

In my opinion the NSX should be top 3 there. the 0-60's on all cars seem a bit inaccurate...but then again every site has a different spec. "prelude the one to get if you can't get an NSX"??? The integra is a much better car than the prelude! evo's and scoobys??? where are they....surley replaces the FTO

He wasnt much off with 1997, maybe some were still for sale in 1997 and hence registered as UK cars in 1997.

I agree with other comments, RX7 looks good, goes well, but breaks often, wheres the scooby and Evo ?
