Pete
Wireless keyboards/mice really wind me up for this. They seem to let you down just at the wrong time. (Is there ever a right time?) I refuse to use them. Heavier and unreliable.

hogmaw
What is the point of a wireless keyboard/mouse? Is there ANY advantage?
imi
What is the point of a wireless keyboard/mouse? Is there ANY advantage? other than the fact that there are no wires.......it looks cool......(but thats me really clutching for straws)
j_jza80
When you use your 50" TV as a monitor it helps not to be sat 10" away from it!
hogmaw
If you're close to your monitor, as most people are, then surely it can't matter if there is a wire leading to it or not. Who uses a 50" TV as a monitor?! Are you for real

Pot
I've got a Logitech Cordless Desktop LX 710 Laser combo I use in the office, and a Logitech Cordless Desktop S 510 combo I use at home, both of them get a lot of use, I swop the batteries about every 3-4 months (2x AAA in each unit I think), but I thought that was a pretty good amount of time... You could always get some rechargeables for it?
AndrewOW
My Apple Mighty Mouse is a bit too hungry, goes through batteries every couple of months You could always get some rechargeables for it? As above. Get a few sets of the Hybrio rechargeable batteries, and always have a couple on charge, so you never run out. I use a Bluetooth cordless mouse with my MacBookPro, and they are great IMO. Pot
I also find office supplies are a fantastic source of finding batteries
JustGav
I've always stuck with wired keyboards and mice... as Pete said the others are heavy and unreliable. I even ran an extra length USB lead to behind the sofa for the HTPC keyboard.
Pot
I've never had any issue with weight or reliability with mine, my home set's even survived a few drunken rampages, and spilt drinks without any issues (After a good drying out)
Pete
Don't they have recharging docking stations for them?

Carl_S
If you do want want to spend money on more batteries, you could: 1) use a different mouse 2) use rechargeable batteries 3) squeeze the batteries with a pair of pliers and reinsert them (emergency only) 4) get someone to buy you some. For a change, that is a very well thought out post by your standards, the attempt to cover all basis has taken me aback momentarily. Sad as it is for me to say however is that your initial assumption is way off, rendering for me the post completely irrelevant. Thanks for the attempt though - I am sure someone will find it excruciatingly humorous.
Carl_S
Thanks the compliment Imi. I suppose It's just nice mouse and you will put up with it being hungry. I miss my radio mouse a little bit.

Ewen
I use a USB corded mighty mouse on the iMac at home, plugs into the USB corded keyboard. No battery issues, never had a problem with the cord. I use a Logitech MX Revolution at work. Cordless, but rechargeable from its docking station. A charge will last a full 50 hrs of use. My sons got a Logitech pointer mouse, which is a bit odd. I dont like it, but the pointer function is pretty cool...for those who dont know, it can be used in free space, just point it at the screen. Animal
Who uses a 50" TV as a monitor?! Are you for real My parents gave me their huge Viera telly when they upgraded a few months ago. It works great as a monitor, especially for games. For 'normal' use, I have a pair of 24" widescreen monitors. In regards to the original post, I think it's a bit trial & error. I know quite a few people with wireless stuff that eats batteries - the girlfriend had a mouse & keyboard that would eat rechargeables in about a week. I've just gone back to wired (Saitek Cyborg) just because they have better features, but my Microsoft keyboard batteries lasted over a year and the mouse batteries would last 3-4 months.
