RedM
1/12 - Flotsam and Jetsam When did QI become so naughty? It occasionally sails close to the wind, but in the first episode of a new series it heads straight for waves of smut and innuendo. Which makes it no less funny, of course, particularly when guests Andy Hamilton, Rob Brydon, Charlie Higson and Alan Davies are in full flow. There's a nautical theme to the show, which is based on "flotsam" and other things maritime. Everyone is on fine form, and are at their best when gently teasing question-master Stephen Fry, who gets flustered and comes badly unstuck when telling a story about TV's Batman and Robin. Funny telly for intelligent people.
RiceRocket
Yep I'll be watching that. CBB for the 'others' I guess.
AndrewOW
Thanks for heads up. I managed to catch the last few minutes of it, so I'll catch the repeat, and put it on series link. A great programme IMO
Blackie
Funny telly for intelligent people. I love it but i'm not too intelligent but still strive to understand it
Jake
Is QI really regarded as TV for intelligent people? I fail to see what's so clever about QI or why Mr Fry is commonly regarded as super-intelligent for his ability to read a few "facts" from a card. Having said that, I do watch the programme on occasions and do find it quite interesting. Unless Jo Brand is one of panellists, obviously. AndrewOW
I like Takeshi's Castle, will I like this? You need to try Total Wipeout on BBC1 saturday evenings. Its 'our' version, in a way. It is quite amusing IMO.

Having said that, I do watch the programme on occasions and do find it quite interesting. Unless Jo Brand is one of panellists, obviously. As the makers say, QI is about what you don't know, not what you do know. Fry reads some stuff from the cards, but he does know a lot of it himself. Also its about being "quite interesting" not about being clever.

Mike
missed it.... No, I don't know why the frame it up as being a bit highbrow either? I expect it makes people feel intelligent when they watch it... please like to feel intelligent
extendor
When did QI become so naughty? as asked by the Radio Times. I would rather it asked "Why does Stephen Fry insist on playing up to the homosexual stereotype and bringing everything back to smut?" I like SF but am finding his style very weary now. A word of advise if he is reading this. Not everyone thinks it funny or clever and you could consider that entertainment does not have to revolve around tits, cocks and arses or being 'seen to' by you in your dressing room etc.
Thorin
I noticed a "QI XL" in the listings, I presume that's a repeat with a bit extra? Will have to stick that on series link.

I think it's meant to stand for Extra Long, as the show is now around 45 minutes long, rather than the old 30 minutes. Its a brand new series, isn't it?
