bens747
Received an email from a friend and don't know if anyone else has got it as it's been doing the rounds. Your contacts to call In case of emergency on your mobile phone. Edit contact to include I.C.E. at the end of the number. Many emergency services now recognise this as an emergency contact if they check your phone. I've changed mine ..... have you?
michael
I've changed mine ..... have you? No but I guess it makes sense if done properly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_case_of_emergency http://www.snopes.com/crime/prevent/icephone.asp Good luck to them though, my Omnia isn't the easier phone to find contacts on. Benjy
Ummm, nah. I pay my council tax so they can send a copper to my house! lol
marc_p
I have 'Auto ICE' as a contact in my phone, maybe they'll ring them instead of the contacts 'Home' or 'Mum'. p.s. You stole Blackies avatar
Carl_S
Interesting. Makes good sense on one hand, on the other a part of me doesn't want to tempt fate. I would rather pretend that an emergency necessitating the emergency services to use my mobile to look for In Case of Emergency numbers would not happen to me. I probably would feel more comfortable with dog tags. I'm guessing the email was from someone reputable in the field, not for example VanillaICE. Though he himself may have been a medic. Certainly worth considering if you don't have "Dad", or "Mum" on your phone.
juanchan
Emergency services won't go through your phone though. When I was in A&E recently, a drunk girl was brought in with a wound to her head. She was cuffed to a policewoman and claimed she didn't know her own name. She kept asking the officer to "look up 'mum' in my contacts and ring her to ask her my name and let her know where I am". The policewoman refused, and cited a few reasons such as "How do I know it's your phone and not one you've stolen?"
Mike
Imagine the hilarity when they call Tracy Marrow when I've been hit by a bus?! (two Ice T references in as many minutes!)
cheekymonkey
Your contacts to call In case of emergency on your mobile phone. Edit contact to include I.C.E. at the end of the number. Surely it's better to have ICE at the beginning of the contact so they can go straight to it rather having to look through all the contacts? michael
I just added mine. ICE - 999 That should cover most issues. Surely it's better to have ICE at the beginning of the contact so they can go straight to it rather having to look through all the contacts? That's the sensible way to do it, the OP clearly wants to delay the process a little while they look through his collection
grahamc
Will work great, since my phone is password protected.
steb9780
The only ICE in my phonebook is the local bike, just in case I don't pull on a Friday night.....lol
Carl_S
It would be fascinating, and an interesting use of our alloted earthly time to discover the true source of this email. Maybe there are some guidlines on the direct.gov website if it is a government approved idea. Just seems that ICE with its deep In Car Entertainment undertones would leave many a young car enthusiast at a disadvantage in this apparent initiative. And yet it is this very group of personages, that may be at a higher than average at risk of such emergency situations.

Lbm
I've removed all my numbers except my local chinese takeaway and my not so local, but equally delicious Indian takeaway numbers. I know the emergency services do get hungry, particularly after an emergency.
Carl_S
Is it lucky house LBM? That used to be my favourite, till I crossed the road, and sampled the other one (the hubby and wife team).

RedM
If anything happens to me the tracker in my neck means that a black ops team will arrive in minutes. All witnesses will be 'removed' and full rendition protocols take effect. They'll also ring my half.

Jamesy W
Not being...nevermind I don't see much point in changing it tbh, up here the phone is more likely to be robbed before the emergency services arrive.
