Chris Wilson
But no one seems to have told Oakfields..... http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/21988/1965_Ferrari_275_GTB_6_Carburettor_Short_Nose_LHD.html
dani_r
I work at the Airport in the IoM and handle loads of private jets all the time! For the very rich (people who can afford to fork out a cool half-mil for a car), there's no such thing as recession!
adnanshah247
why o why would you want to spend that much money on that, granted its a classic but no way in hell from me.

dani_r
...plus, for £500,000 i'd want something better! I'd rather buy this: http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=74&Itemid=57 then blow the rest on fuel and tyres! Good times! Would 500k cover it Paul? I'd certainly rather have the ferrari than that. Just imagine driving through France and Italy in the Ferrari, shades on Mind you if I had the cash then THIS may tempt me. Branners
Did anybody watch The Real Italian Job over Xmas? Some chef form the telly decided to drive in the Mille Migle and had to buy a car for £600,000 and then have the engine fully rebuilt. He didnt even make it past the first day before it failed. Total cost was over £1m.

SUPRALOOPY
Its worth that because of what it is. Not how it drives, I have driven things like that for last 13 years and believe me they are RUBBISH. They are nice to look at and they have the look what I have factor but thats it. Sorry but I'm not a good salesman for these cars..LOL

RedM
James Martin. He wasn't very nice when talking about his partner. He referred to her as 'it'. "If you leave it a party it'll have crowds of men around it". He was obviously passionate and obsessed with cars and the Mille Miglia but he came across as a proper c*ck. I thought exactly that, okay so he is a petrolhead, but he came across as an arrogant pillock who just threw money at it. Given the fact they rebuilt the engine it really didn't amount to much. I thought they 2's of everything it seemed. Still had no idea why he chose the girl he did as a navigator, when it appeared she was driver and a circuit one at that...she certainly was no good on the mechanics side of things either. Whole thing came over as a bit of a 'look at how much money I have' exercise.

That's a bit out of context isn't it? He was comparing an attractive woman to a nice car - at the time he was stood next to a car and his lady was off wandering, my understanding was that the "it" comment was aimed at the car and pretty cars in general, not women. The comparison made with his missus was that if he left her alone at a party she's good looking and would have a swarm of men around her in a moment - a compliment surely? I'm a fan of James Martin, I like what he does and I admire what he's made for himself from working hard and being ambitious. I do agree that the program didn't show him in the best light but given the stress he was under I'm willing to cut him some slack. I thought he could do better than his girlfriend anyway, pick me James, I'll wash your onions. Food comes first, then it's cars, my dog and women... http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/celebs-on-sunday/2008/08/24/james-martin-food-comes-first-then-it-s-cars-my-dog-and-women-115875-20707659/

I like his motoring column in The Mail On Sunday Live magazine (which I don't buy FWIW). That bit about his dad and the Ferrari made me well up.
