Gaz6002
http://ukde.co.uk/board/showthread.php?p=22053#post22053 This might be good news for us Supra owners. I wonder what the average price of a Supra is these days? I'm tempted to say that the average TT is worth pretty much the average as shown in the article. It certainly indicates that our cars are worth more than they were 3 months ago, which is nice.
The Raven
Id say the price of a TT is now 5.5k, N/A maybe 3k Aero 3.5k All the time the climate is like it is the prices will continue to fall

The Raven
The prices are rising according to the BCA I dont belive it for a second. Everything else is falling, used cars will not buck the trend.
Gaz6002
I dont belive it for a second. Everything else is falling, used cars will not buck the trend. Why not? If less people buy new, doesn't that mean more will buy second-hand?
grahamc
That could just mean that people are spending slightly more on their cars, as they release they might need to keep them for longer. Too many variables missing from that graph... Does not mean cars are worth more.

Ark
The graph is misleading with its scales - we're only up by less than £100 if it's to be believed. Don't go booking that holiday just yet. If spending on new cars is down, it doesn't automatically mean that spending on used cars is up. Spending on maintenance might be up since people will keep their old cars running for longer. The only argument to support any increased demand for used cars would be for old cars, pre-dating the stupid CO2 rules, thanks to easy/cheap tax brackets. Gaz6002
I don't know about car prices but hits at http://ukde.co.uk will be up today Well here's hoping that trend continues eh? We're going to focus a lot more on current news now so hopefully exposure will increase.
grahamc
If people spend more on the same cars, surely the value of the cars increases... What I am saying is, that they are not buying the same cars... There are so many variables and assumptions in that graph, its very misleading. Could be that less people in the lower class incomes are buying cars, but more higher end cars are being sold (possibly due to their lower values). AndrewOW
Maybe as petrol's currently cheaper its helping the used car market a bit.
Gaz6002
I know the graph isn't great - but I still maintain that it does show a trend for the used car market improving whatever the reason might be.

Do you have a comparison on the number of cars sold between the different months? However, from what I have seen, especially since I am looking for a car... prices are dropping, enough to make me wait and watch!
Gaz6002
Do you have a comparison on the number of cars sold between the different months? I don't unfortunately - I've just got a table showing the numbers in the graph and article. Agreed that would be a helpful indicator. However, from what I have seen, especially since I am looking for a car... prices are dropping, enough to make me wait and watch! Maybe the effects will be delayed slightly for private sales. BCA are an auction company, it could take a little while for the numbers to reflect on the whole market?

Thats a pity... Maybe the effects will be delayed slightly for private sales. BCA are an auction company, it could take a little while for the numbers to reflect on the whole market? possibly, but I dont see any reasons as to why... EDIT - actually, I wonder if that might be related to the exchange rate? exchange rate is horrendous, so cars from overseas, as just not as much of an option as they used to be.
