marc_p
Ok, for the second time in the past week the Civic has refused to start due to the cold weather and I've been forced to drive the Supra in some less than good road conditions. So I've decided to upgrade the daily driver. I had a 98 E36 318is Coupe a few years ago and decided that I'd like another BMW (I've missed being a c0ck:d) I would like a diesel this time though so have been having a look at e46 320/330d's, I definetly want a coupe sport and I drove my dad's 530d once and thought that the 3.0d engine was brilliant but due to restricted budgets a 320d looks like a better choice financially as the max budget is £10k. The question I have though is about the 2.0d engine, does anyone here have a 320d, what's it like? as I have fears that it will seem quite underpowered as the e46 is not a light car. Cheers

If that is genuine then its a superb buy.

Tell me about it, my last civic was astonishingly reliable though, it sat outside with no front end on it for 9 months and I started it last week as a mate bought it off me and it started first time:blink: I've been looking at the 1.9tdi Audi A4's aswell. I just want a comfortable and reliable deisel with a good mpg for doing most of my mileage in.

marc_p
You saying after sitting for 9 Months, the Civic started first time? Yup, although it did have a flat battery, but apart from that it started and ran beautifully with no problems.

Its like having a girlfriend that used to have Herpes but has now been treated - you always know something used to be wrong with her and most people wouldnt touch her! ellis
I had an 04 330ci petrol coupé for a couple of months and whilst it was good at everything it was brilliant at nothing. Parked alongside my old UK spec Supe it was always the Supra that I wanted to get in and drive, not the BM. I know you're looking for a daily drive but I'd sooner buy an NA as a winter car and keep the rest of the cash to lavish on the TT whilst the weather is bad! adnanshah247
i have a 325tds se (N plate) and have had 2 other bm's more newer (51 and 53 plate) in the past. every one had its unique problems. the 51 plates gearbox died after 59k miles even though it had one old man owner from new and had full service history and the 53 plate had a whole host of issues ranging from the engine to electronics. the bm i have at the moment is a simple run around but struggles to start in the cold and has problems like window regulators and switches. personally one of the best cars i ever had was a VW BORA 1.9TDI Sport remapped to 150hp. Gave around 40mpg and was quicker than a vtec 2.2 petrol honda accord off the lights. i attached a pic of it as well.....
Mrs H
I've got an 06 BMW 320d ES Coupe as my company car. It's going back next week. One careful lady driver from new only 14k miles on the clock I find the 2.0 engine fine for a daily drive and mpg is fantastic especially on motorway runs. My only complaint would be the window/door mechanisms mine were replaced at 18 months (under warranty) due to corrosion and they sound like they need doing again.
