adi2009
I was just about to change my suspension today when I noticed that my car had a yellow color Toyota-Bilstein shocks installed in them. However, the stock shocks (brand new) that I have awaiting installation are black in colour and are made by KYB. Does anyone know the specs on the Bilsteins??? did they come standard on some cars by any chance??? Cheers

jamesmark
They were an optional extra/upgrade I believe or bought after the car was bought, billies are regarded as one of the best shocks for the Supra without going to coilovers. Dunno how the compare with KYB.
bigbloodyturbo
I seem to remember chriswilson saying they are not real bilstein's as they are made in japan under liscence by toyota and dont have the same quality as german bilsteins. I have them and they are quite firm but that could be due to the yellow dampers OR the non existant sidewalls on my 19's:(
Chris Wilson
They are made under licence, same as Japanese Ohlins are not the same at all as Eiuropean built ones (nor the same high price though....). The Bilsteins, even the made under licence by Toyota ones, are better than the cheaper KYB ones. I can do a great price on proper German made Bilsteins for all cars, and can re valve and re engineer to suit none stock applications. Guest willismaximus
What sort of price would that be for the shocks and if possible a set of springs that go well with them on an N/A Mr Wilson? Sorry for the hi-jack
Chris Wilson
Stock valved German made Bilsteins are 98 each, plus postage, depending on what springs you need, rate wise, I'd say about 220 a car set for custom springs, but they'll work perfectly well on the stock springs. Chris and Alana
I bought some yellow billstein shocks from nick not long ago as my black kyb shocks decided to leak-3 of them at the same time Anyway, the shocks that came from nick had billstein made in germany stamped into the metal near the bottom of each shock and then a stick on toyota label round the shock. Is there a difference between these and the ones your on about chris? And just to add a bit of info for the thread starter,in my opinion the yellow shocks are a little firmer than the black KYB's but seem to suit the car better, I have mine with the later model vvti springs as I read they are a little lower and firmer. they were also meant to be with these shocks from the factory I beleive.
