Nodalmighty
Are there major internal differences between GTE and GE engines. If we leave the rods and pistons out of the equation, does the GE: Have piston oil squirter's or the facility in the block to have GTE ones added? Share the same block? Share the same crank? Share the same head? Lyndon.
bigbloodyturbo
Go to supraforums.com and check out the na-t section, there's a sticky at the top of the page marked GTE GE differences, that has eveything you need to know. As far as i'm aware the GE has no oil squirters but a lot of the yanks seem to like having the extra oil pressure for other things when tuning the GE anyway, they have been retrofitted but you need to machine the block. The heads are different also, and the block is the same but has things blocked off (some oil galleries) and some parts are not drilled and tapped(turbo oil return in the sump for example)
Stephen G
The GE dont get the oil squiters and they dont have the oil feed on the outside of the block for the turbos or the waterway on the other side for the oil cooler. The head is not the same as the GE has a dizzy and the GTE dont, as for the crank i think it is the same as the garage manuals its the one cheak page and readings for both the GE and the GTE. Hope that answers a few questions for you mate.
Lee P
The block and head are different but the internals of the block are the same apart from the oil squirters as already stated.
JustGav
The block and head are different but the internals of the block are the same apart from the oil squirters as already stated. Not so sure on that...CW cut the block and reckoned there were differences. Might need to confirm that though.
dr_jekyll
the gte head fits straight onto the gte block , and the bottom half of the ge block has all the placees for oil feeds and a plate for the returne but they have just been blanked out
Scooter
A bare GTE block is approx 1kg heavier than a GE one.
