Aero-M
found this video. road test of the escort cossie vs toyota celica gt4. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SbVXKTPgbDg they did one once, I can't find it, It was an escort cosworth running massive power, If I remember the engine needed rebuiling every 1000 miles, it was used as a road car. sure it was on top gear years ago. Rich
If I bought one I would not bother modifying it. I would leave it totally stock and just use it for the nicer days of the year.
michael
I love sporty Fords, heck I even like some of the dull ones, there is just something about them that people who don't share this view simply don't get. Their loss IMO. Anyway... X12W2Aja844 J-br6_LpkAE 6JaaYU0z84c Having said all this I'd prefer a modded MK1 with a cossie lump and 4WD. chris2o2
The escort cosworth is not a car for me but i can understand why people love them and why they have such a cult status , not a chav car imo far from it . I always liked the RS500 more , no idea why though it looks wicked in white !

Nick
Anyone that thinks an Escort Cosworth is a chav car didn't grow up in the 90's, they were the Skyline of their day. I could only dream of owning one whilst I trashed the life out of my 1.3 MKIII Escort I think if I was living in the UK now I'd probably sell the GT-R and buy a mint MKII RS2000. Probably just a phase, but I'm getting a bit nostalgic.
Nick
http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/710946.htm Or a MKI, that's just

Rich
So in summary on here we're all chavs and the Escort Cossie is the holy grail....??? Not at all ,the main point is that the escort cossie is not a chav mobile in the slightest.
stevie_b
Graham, I contacted my friend: his friend still has hers, and she's "still very pleased with it". She's had it 10 years at least, maybe more. Hardly a detailed critique of Escort RS Cosworth ownership, but hey-ho. If you have any specific questions, I can try to get them passed on to her. Ian W
Anyone that thinks an Escort Cosworth is a chav car didn't grow up in the 90's I doubt whether Matt H has even grown up to this day tbh
Scott
I doubt whether Matt H has even grown up to this day tbh I was trying to think of a Matt H response to that yesterday but couldn't come up with anything.... we have a winner!

Thanks for that. The fact that she has had the car for 10 years says it all really. This more to get a feel for the car and peoples thoughts, so has been quite entertaining really
hadyn
Bumping this thread as tonight i'm indulging in lusting after Escort Cosworths and reminiscing in the glory of the feelings they used to evoke in me as a teenage boy in the 90s Good times
jimojameso
My friend has had two and his were very unreliable but he does drive them without any care. He now has an R33 which has been much better. They are cool tho so good luck if you decide to get one
