tooquicktostop
I would have an R32 GTR over one of these all day long, the Escort is such a lot of money I think the Sierra Cosworth is much better value, its one of the cars I always wanted but never owned
Matt H
Jeez, would that not be the most embarrasing thing this side of a Nova / AX to drive around in? Are they not all in the scrapers now?

Not a sierra fan... Jeez, would that not be the most embarrasing thing this side of a Nova / AX to drive around in? Are they not all in the scrapers now? Not really... only bright orange supras are that embarrassing to drive

You cant argue with the performance though. I would prefer an escort cosworth any day over an R32 it is much more of a collectors car and actually looks the part. Matt H
are you thinking of the RS turbo? Escort RS Cosworth, big whale tail on the back, owned by the people who appear in this vid: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=172966 Not really... only bright orange supras are that embarrassing to drive Good job mines Tangerine Red then! Without meaning to appear rude,I think a totally stock escort cosworth would demand more respect from petrolheads to a car like yours with a lairy paint job. Like I say each to their own though. Ian W
Good job mines Tangerine Red then! That sounds like when you tell a woman her hair looks good / bad / indifferent red and she turns around to say, "actually it's exotic rust" or similar. Rich
An Escort looks the part? for tear arsing around a council estate presumably?! I wouldnt say a mint rscort cosworth is a chavmobile. I dont think chavs can afford something like this- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/836085.htm a J reg car for around the 15k mark-held its money quite well for a chav car. The same could be said for a lot of supras on the roads in th UK these days. They are getting that cheap the quality of some of the supras I have seen is shocking. There is some real shitters around yorkshire I have seen.To be honest it is a little embarassing at times! DannoSupra
I nearly bought one, are you going to buy and keep stock'ish, or tune it? They are so easy and cheap compared to Jap Tuning Try and get one thats over £12-14k, seen a lot of cheap one's but dogs

Like I say each to their own though. Yeah if your petrolheads were all wearing burberry caps, full of ache and were adorned with H Samual's gold "bling". Having said that; appealing to petrol heads isnt my desire, the very nature of the word petrolhead isnt a very appealing stigma. That sounds like when you tell a woman her hair looks good / bad / indifferent red and she turns around to say, "actually it's exotic rust" or similar. Wow, can't remember ever saying to a lady that i thought her hair looked an indifferent red, how chat up lines must change through the ages. I think the escort cosworth is now well beyond being a chav car due to the cost .I think a lot of people like to see a mint stock one as they were a lot of peoples dream car before cars like supras and skylines etc. were afforrdable to joe public. The Raven
No offence but i fail to see what this car would give you over an Evo for the same money apart from headaches.
Mike
I wouldnt say a mint rscort cosworth is a chavmobile. snip I'm gobsmacked someone would pay that much for one of those.... it must be collectible, the thing is hideous! I don't doubt their performance but after a decade of chavs driving (very similar looking) XR3i's and the like, it's difficult to see it as 'a classic'. Rich
No offence but i fail to see what this car would give you over an Evo for the same money apart from headaches. The main thing it would give you over the Evo is individuality as evos are very common and the cosworths are now a dying breed. However performance wise you would probably much better off with an evo or subaru for bang for bucks.
stevie_b
A friend of a friend owned an Escort RS Cosworth (maybe still does). I'll ask him what the running costs are like. He's a hard chap to get hold of though, so don't hold your breath for a quick answer. Ford cosworths may have had a ne'er-do-well reputation when they were more current, but I think they're classics now. I'd love a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth to play with. I agree with you about the amount ,its crazy but someone out there must be prepared to pay a premium for these. There has been so many escort cossy look alikes which doesnt help the image. The cosworth shell is actually different to a normal ford escort one. I guess novas and saxos having failsnide copy skirts and bodykits hasnt helped the popularity of veilside kits on supras either:)
ozz
Love the Escort Cosworth, was very surprised to see one turn up in the latest Need for Speed. I didn't touch the supra as it looked a bit dated against the other marques but couldnt resist the cossie. Back in the real world, I had a MkIV RS2000 (bonnet buldge model 1992) and loved it. Kept it over 4 years, not done that with any other motor. Rust was the biggest killer and I am sure would be an issue with the cossie as they are a similar year - the rear arches and petrol area would rust through due to a design issue with the cap.
