Covered up, Sam (Keiths car) is much better for longer journeys, even with the bung mine would be hard work.

Thats my one worry too. My car is not the quietest thing for long journeys - very "droney" in fact. But hey, thats a small price to pay for a good craic. :D

1. Faye and Keith C

2. CJ and Joshy

3. John and Vix

4. Tezzpip

5. Whitelightning (in TAZ)

I think we will now have to start putting some definite times and locations down for the travel plans. I have spoken to John K and Faye and the concensus of opinion seems to be thus:

Thursday AM - travel by train through tunnel to Calais

Thursday PM - drive to Munster (Germany) Stay overnight at Ibis

Friday AM - Drive to Soenderberf (Denmark) Camp on site

Saturday - Denmark

Sunday PM - Drive to Munster - Stay overnight at Ibis

Monday AM - Drive to Calais

Monday PM - Train back to Blighty

How does that sound to everyone? If it seems OK, what about getting more ideas for leaving times on the Thursday and returning times for the Monday?

Comments please.

My wife and I are going to try to drive up from Heinsberg and meet you guys in Munster. Even better, what route are you taking through Germany? Passing through Venlo on the A67/A40? If so, that's an even better place for us to hook up, much closer to me. Also, which Ibis are you making reservations at? Anybody got a phone number? Let me know.

Sounds great CJ, I would prefer a very late morning, early afternoon departure on the tunnel.

Returning I would suggest around the same time poss a little later, at the French end.

I would suggest we all meet up prior to the tunnel to share out tickets (if we book thru 1 person) and to refuel so once on the other side we dont have to stop for a while.

I suggest we meet somewhere like Matt H's (sextons) as its close to the tunnel.

CJ are you willing to be the organiser?

Quite happy to organise train tickets and hotels etc.

I need to get more of a feel for peoples preferences for start travel times there and back.

Start times I'm pretty easy on, living where we do an early start isn't too bad for us. A late start means that lazybones (Keith) gets a to sleep more which'll make him happy :D

Getting back isn't a problem either - Keith and I are off on the Tuesday anyway.

Getting on the train with a full tank of fuel (or near as) is fairly important as it means will only have to stop the once on the way to the hotel.

Unless of course we want to stop more often!

BTW, who has any of those 2 way radios? I hope between us we have enough for us each to have one.

OK, I have checkd train times an prices and also the hotel availability and have come up with the following:

Depart July 28th Folkstone - Calais (12.58pm)

Depart August 1st Calais - Folkstone (14.06)

Cost = £123.00 per car

Ibis Hotel, Muenster - 2 nights (Thursday 28th and Sunday 31st)

59 Euros per room (to sleep 2 people)

If everyone is OK with these arrangements, I will need confirmation before booking. I would like to do this by Monday next week so your early response would be appreciated.

I am quite happy to pay for everyoine and recoup the money on the day of departure but please note that once booked, the train costs are non-refundable.

Could you please indicate if the times and costs are acceptable.
