Mine all started when i got strep throat i even struggled to drink as my throat was closed and if untreated strep can be dangerous, then 2 weeks ago i got phlem on chest which now makes me cough up blood, but today im not coughing so much as i was but if it gets worse again i will see my doctor tomorrow or go hospital later

Resurrecting this one rather than start yet another flu jab thread.

I had two flu jabs Wednesday, normal and swine flu, one in each arm and I've felt like SH!T all day today. Not had these before and it sure came as a surprise. :(

The Doc caught me unawares. I went for an 'annual heart checkup' because of last years trouble and while I was in there he said that I was down to have the jabs now I was considered to be 'at risk'.

After the second one he said as an aside "Oh, you might find your left arm's a bit sore for a day or two as the swine flu jab tends to do that." A bit sore?? It feels like Manny Pacquiao has been working out on it FFS!

Ah well, at least the cholesterol's down. :D

In my opinion, the Flu jab does work, of course it is only a small barrier, if you go out in a t shirt or wash the car in the freezing cold it cant protect you so much

I have Cystic Fibrosis and i can honestly say that the flu jab is the only thing that keeps me mobile throughout the winter, this year i missed my jab due to moving back home and not finding the time to re register at my old docs, and lets just say im really feeling it,

if i get flu (by which i mean proper flu) its develops into a full blown chest infection/tonsilitus over night, and iv been really ill for 3 weeks, and like Michael refers to it as, being on the brink of death :(

You should never miss the jab, my daughter also has cystic fibrosis, really horrible thing to live with and you have my utmost admiration,

She has been in and out of hospital all her life:(

but she is very strong willed and lives life to the full

and i hope you do too:)

I feel absolutely terrible, I was hoping that I should start to feel better by now but the opposite is true and I'm feeling much worse. Terrible headaches and a raging temperature, the tablets just don't have any impact at all. :(

How long did it last? sounds just like what ive got, been in bed for two days now and i dont think i could feel worse:(

Ive not been to the docs, cant face the journey.

How long have you had it?

Started feeling a bit dodgy friday night, it hit me saturday and i'm just on the up now, been taking Relenza since sunday. Reckon i'll be fighting fit again by friday.

Another day under the quilt for me now :)

Great excuse to watch films and play Ps3 all day :D

Same here and i.m in my 3rd week now!

Fecking thing just doesn't seem to go away and have tried all sorts.

Its the cough that's really doing my nut in!

Ouch :( Hope mine doesn't last that long.

What have you taken for it?

I've only got a lil bit of a cough at the mo, hope it stays that way

Well i was on lemsip max strentgh capsules for 1 week and also some cough syrup.

The lemsip certanily helped eaze things but when wore off back to scratch again!

First 3 days i felt totally $hite and couldn't sleep due to hot/cold sweats and fever.

Once the fever went then came the cold and cough in week 2and at 1 point i thought i was dying as i've never been this ill from a cold before.

Week 3 i feel alot better now but still only 60% and not the 90-100% i should be.

I have the cough which makes me feel like my head is going to split in to 2 and was getting random aches and pains.

Currently i am going through the stage were i have been coughing up phlegm which looks like slimer fron ghostbusters and and have a banging blocked ear for the past 2 days!

Reckon its worth going to the docs? massive constant headache is worst part for me, feel like shit:(

Go on there mate, put your details in, and you can then go get some antiviral medication from the local chemist without needing to sit in the docs for hours.

The relenza antiviral stuff i've got seems to have helped.

Can't believe yours has lasted that long :(

Agree with you with lemsips, defo takes the edge off things!

Hope you're both feeling better soon

I've had a bad cold/cough for about 3 to 4 weeks too:(

Just clearing now, took a week off before starting my new job and came down with it then (typical) Didn't feel much better the first week at my new role but could hardly phone in sick :)

Didn't bother with the docs as I'm a bloke and we don't do docs:D

Hopefully have now built up my immune system a bit, better than jumping on the swine flu bandwagon;)

I for one will not be taking any of these swine flu jabs and becoming a guinea pig for the gov't.

God knows what the side affects long term might be and it was all rushed out before everyone natuarlly recovered from the bug.

I'm heading towards the end of the 3rd week and slowly feeling better, hopefully wont last another week!
