Guest CoolsBlue
Hey all, ive been working on my supra recently, drove it onto some wood to jack it up as its to low, now the wood is about 2" thick which raised the front a bit, looks really cool with the front end a little higher, and would be much more practial for everyday driving. Now, i have stock springs...can it be raised? or do i need to go aftermarket...really dont want to do that...extra £££ to spend cheers, Kev

michael
Wrap old jumpers around the tyres and nail them down, that should lift the height too.

Kranz
Michael always gives the best advice, though personally I'd screw the jumpers on as nails probably wouldn't get enough purchase in the rubber.
michael
Good point Kranz, I hadn't considered that, maybe use tracksuit tops too, they are faster than jumpers.

SteveR
:woot:Thats great advice to give mate!! Don't raise the front, it'll look stupid and at high speeds it'll create lift, reduce steering input and thus become potentially dangerous. If your car won't go over most speed bumps as it is then it's too low, but as you're on stock springs that would suggest they are shagged, or you've fitted a silly front (or both!); remedy that rather than try to make the car look like it's mid drag-launch. edit - If you still want to raise it up and have run out of jumpers/nails, fit adjustable springs and get them set up correctly so you don't create dangerous handling. How's that for advice?
jevansio
Is it worth considering the effect you'll be making on high speed stability? 2" sounds an awful lot to crank the front end up
JustGav
Nail gun? Try one of these things, http://www.paslode-cordless.com/ They are simply superb at holding things down, might have something to do with the gas charge driving it I built my shed with one and it fires 6 cm nails in with relative ease. chris2o2
Anyway Jumpers and tracksuit tops are silly , use jeans and your tracksuit bottoms , they are shaped better to wrap around the tyres.
SteveR
You say this like it's a bad thing... There's the Michael I've grown to know. Recently you've been posting nice bits of advice to newbies and the like, I was getting worried!
