V8 into a Supra?

Hey, not planning to stay here long or anything and I can't make my own thread....Sorry for the change of topic but I gotta ask this:

I got a stock 5-speed supra non-turbo. I was thinking if the engine ever broke down or if I got enough money, I would put a V8 in it instead. I looked around the internet, but I couldn't find much useful information.

What would be the most compatible V8 engine with a supra? I was thinking a 3UZ-FE (Not sure how much they cost used or brand-new) Don't want to put a domestic V8 in it like a camaro cuz I heard their unreliable.

A 3UR-FE (2007 Tundra engine) probably wouldn't fit in it, and even if it would it would go pretty slow, right? But have lots of torque? Sorry, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to engines.

This is all I could find: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_UZ_engine#3UZ-FE

If someone could give me a link or something it would be greatly apprecited. Thanks

Yes of course that would be the first thing that I did when I found out that Vtypes were more efficient than Straights. Thanks for trying though.

Also, any idea if this would be a legitimate site?: http://www.asapmotors.com/lexus-gs430-43-p-5330.html?zenid=758bafaf8d1d17e9002e3829bf07dec4

Did an American tell you that? :D :p

V8's are horrible things* - big gangly counterweights all over the crank because they're not naturally balanced like a straight 6 is.

Now a V12 is another matter altogether.... :eyebrows:

I'm sure you'll get on splendidly with this project - thanks for trying such an innovative task ;)

* although I do have a soft spot for them because of the noise they make and the torque they can develop given the usual obscene capacities.

In that case, why did Toyota and lexus switch to V8?

Even if they aren't, the only natural engines that have over 300hp are V8s, I don't think a straight 8 is gonna fit in a supra, and even if it would, isn't only chrysler that still makes str8?

A V8's secondary balance, it's natural balance, is always off. This applies to everything from a Pontiac to a Ferrari. A V12 and I6 are for all purposes perfectly secondary balanced. The balancing that goes on at the engine shop is the primary balance and any platform can be made to be near perfect. It's just the nature of the game. :)

My e46 BMW M3 has a V8 then?

THAT'S GREAT NEWS!

I guess there's always exceptions. But the fourth generation is going to have a 4L V8, why's that?

V8's have been done, as have V12's. If you want to be really different, why not fit a W16?

Great Idea! Where do you suggest looking for that type of engine?
