Jamesy W
I'd say Ali on points. Now I'm away to start a Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris thread.

mikeyb10supra
Ask any boxer, what makes a solid fighter? its not one who can give a beating but also come back from one. Ali hands down will have him. A good boxer doesn't take a beating
Conrad
I'm genuinely surprised at how many people are blindly opting for Tyson. No doubt in his prime he was a scary animal to behold, but people forget that in his prime he didn't really come up against anyone of note. That era of HW boxing was not the best. He beat a blown up Light Heavy in Spinks and a 40 year old Larry Holmes. Tyson's aura of invincibilty had 90% of his opponents beat in the 80's before even stepping in the ring, but he wouldn't have had that advantage over Ali. Ali beat the two baddest men on the planet in the 60's and 70's namely Liston and Foreman, both of whom were considered unbeatable. Ali is considered the greatest HW of all time, I'd be surprised if Tyson was in the Top 5. Tyson had amazing speed and power but he wasn't mentally all there, as soon as he came in against somebody good he crumbled mentally. He'd have a punchers chance against Ali, as all HW boxers do. But IMO Ali beats Tyson all day long.

Now there finally is a sensible post with good reasoning I am both a Tyson fan and an Ali fan.....cant believe that people think that Tyson would stand a chance...short memories eh....... Bobbeh
Tyson - Spinks fight - you think anyone would have touched Tyson that night ? Im more of an Ali fan though . Looking at that first round Spinks didnt exactly throw much, and Tyson was allowed to get close and do some damage. I think Lewis at the best idea with keeping him at range with the a decent jab.. and Ali had that too. I'd go for Ali but Tyson was a superb aggressor with one hell of a punch. Big Supes
I've given this fight a lot of thought and have come to the conclusion that it all depends on whether or not each of them would have prepared for each other. If you just took them both and put them in a ring, I would go for Tyson stopping the fight inside of 4 rounds. I could see Ali falling victim to the devastating speed and power which is on a bigger scale than what Henry Cooper (the guy that put him down) had, BUT..... If Ali knew of Tyson's punching power and speed, I think he would have been able to take Tyson into the later rounds that he never experienced in his prime. In these rounds I think Tyson would run out of answers and lose steam... from there on Ali would then sting him until he either hit the canvas, or lose severely on points. pezzler
watched a documentary the other night about ali and smokin joe. ali came off like a complete wa*ker..but anyway, alot of the old school boxers all said that ali was overrated as a boxer and built his carrer on hype; but more importantly, couldnt hit for toffee. i think tyson would've battered ali within three rounds
Big Supes
"Over-rated" and "Couldn't hit for toffee" are outrageous statements regarding Ali!! Ali wasn't just the fastest, most accurate puncher in the heavy weight, he also had the best defence, counter, leg work and most of all... HEART! Ali was immense in every sense of the word. pezzler
if anyone gets the chance; look up a documentary called rumble in the jungle. it was on channel four a few months ago and it was cracking. saw ali in a completely different light. THE DON
Seen a few of ali's fights so called best ones and wasn't impressed tyson was a machine and would of taken ali out in a few rounds ali may have been clever but didnt have aggression or power of tyson it would of just been a matter of time. As someone mentioned before ali is overrated imo too. iv boxed and trained for years now and seen loads of videos of some class fighters not yet seen one with devastaing power and accuracy of tyson. Bobbeh
Tysons KO rate is exremely high, and it goes to show how good he was... but when Lennox beat him he did it in a way that wouldnt allow Mike do play his game... even though Mike was a little faded compared to his earlier years. Agreed. Lewis was and still is The Last Great Heavyweight, can't see that changing for some time either. A prime Lewis beats a prime Tyson IMO as well. As for those still picking Tyson I just don't get it. Would you say Tyson was better than George Foreman? Cus I certainly don't, a past it Ali beat a prime George Foreman. Add to that the fact that Tyson himself was shit scared of Foreman, even the 41 year old version he wouldn''t fight back in 1990. Check out the following article for proof, a long read but a cracking one at that... Why we never saw Tyson Vs Foreman

Scott
Lewis couldn't box if his life depended on it. Take punches till the cows come home though... oh yeah. If you can't dance you have to be able to take a punch. I think Lewis learned that from an early age.
Guest Ashey
Tyson would win hands down! in his prime he was lethal, mind Rocky Marciano and George Forman where also great. So many great boxers back in the day! I would like to see Joe Kalzaghe fight Roy Jones when he was in his prime would have been a good fight, compared to what happened not so long ago!
