AndrewOW
I've also gone from no exercise to being able to run five miles. So how far do you think you're away from home now, then? (Well, someone had to ask ) I want to lose 2 stone, as for some completely unknown reason on NYE, we all weighed ourselves (just for a laugh ), and I was about a stone heavier than I thought I was, and it completely shocked me. It didn't sober me up at all, but its made me think about it somewhat! I used to play badminton about 4-5 times a week, and was reasonably fit, but since my knees started giving me problems, I had to stop. Trying to find a low impact enjoyable exercise is quite difficult, when I find swimming tedious.

Kranz
Ok ok..... but TBH I'm in the same boat as you guys. Trying to put on 1/2 stone of muscle is much the same as trying to shift the inches. Strict diet, sensible eating (lots of protein and caolries, complex carbs etc) and a lot of effort in the gym.
ClaireRZ-S
a lad i know is trying to gain weight i think he goes to the gym 3 times a week and drinks them protein shakes and he eats loads of meat in them rice dishes

ClaireRZ-S
I have drank a lot of water today. Shame it has to come out so often now I have broken the seal..... H. seemingly if you didn't drink a lot of water before you will as they say piss like a racehorse for awhile. Your body holds onto the water it has for a very long time, when you start giving your body lots of water it starts to flush out the water that its holding onto because your body is assuming that your going to start getting lots of water and no need for a reserve! this is what i read somewhere anyway

AndrewOW
I have drank a lot of water today. Shame it has to come out so often now I have broken the seal..... H. I would drink much more water, but as you say you may as well have a bed pan attached to you the whole time!. seemingly if you didn't drink a lot of water before you will as they say piss like a racehorse for awhile. Your body holds onto the water it has for a very long time, when you start giving your body lots of water it starts to flush out the water that its holding onto because your body is assuming that your going to start getting lots of water and no need for a reserve! this is what i read somewhere anyway Really? If this is true, then I might start actually drinking the water while I'm in the shower

Axle
but TBH I'm in the same boat as you guys. Trying to put on 1/2 stone of muscle is much the same as trying to shift the inches. There many many factors in gaining muscle mass. Many people think its as simple as lifting weights and eating. Its not. Theres many a reason why you may not be gaining weight/muscle mass. If you wish i could scrutinise your past training routine/diet etc and give you some pointers? I have helped many people in the past across many bodybuilding/powerlifting forums who have hit training plateaus and can no longer further themselves. Dont despiar, its just a case of knowing what to do, how and when. Sometimes specific people require a very specific model to their own requirements and past training succcess (or not). Anything from your routine, training style/methods to diet and sleeping habits can all have an inpact on your results. Some people try too hard, and end up overtraining. This can have a detrimental affect on the bodies central nervous system, in turn making our bodies prone to colds and flus etc.

bigcol
I think you should say bollox to the diet, complement Vicky by saying that she has no need to diet, she looks just fine the way she is, take her to the golden cockroach for an all you can eat. 2 reasons 1) Why suffer and make yourselves miserable with cravings 2) A happy Vicky is a vicky that is one vicky nearer to you having a Porsche;)
