Supragal
Argh. I've managed to leave my mobile and wallet at home today, now I'm stressing out in case someone needs to get hold of me. I say 'someone' what I mean is 'my neighbour' (Stig isn't well) or 'mum' (waiting on family news). I'm trying to convince myself that people managed before mobile phones and one day will be fine... Halp!
Jake
You don't have a regular desk phone at work?
colsoop
You will get home from work and there will be no messages on the phone and all will be well
Supragal
You don't have a regular desk phone at work? Now are you suggesting that I shouldn't have my personal mobile on at work anyway... or that I could use that phone as an alternate contact? jevansio
I hate my mobile, I hate being contactable. I very rarely reply to text messages & calls, I wish we could go back to a time without them
RedM
I hate my mobile, I hate being contactable. I very rarely reply to text messages & calls, I wish we could go back to a time without them I'm in total agreement with you. I hate them. I hate that people now feel the need to ring each other over the most inane things. I hate ringtone adverts. I hate the exorbitant rates. I rarely reply to texts. I hate txt spk too. I wouldn't mind an iPhone though. Mobile phones are handy in an emergency but not if you have to switch them off at work even though taking personal call on the company phones is frowned upon. My old phone was the cheapest of the cheap, used for the occasional call and text but no more. Mind you, picked up the iphone last week and it is awesome (however, this is because of the features that makes it different to a bog standard telephone )
Supragal
I've never worked anywhere where they haven't been ok about the odd personal call/text during the day. That said I wouldn't take the p155 with it, and we are all adults after all.

Supragal
....not always treated like adults though! Yeah I guess I've been fairly lucky with jobs with that regard. Although there has been the odd boss who's been a muppet. Suppose everywhere is the same.

Supragal
We put 2p coins into red phone boxes. But how do you know the number without looking it up in your mobile phones memory?? Actually, it is a bit scary. I used to know every single one of my friends and families numbers off by heart. I can still remember some of them actually... not that they are current anymore of course...
Jake
Now are you suggesting that I shouldn't have my personal mobile on at work anyway... or that I could use that phone as an alternate contact? The second one.
Supragal
Yes but it might excite who ever you are with at the time.. I suppose there may be a circumstance in which that applies!!
Supragal
The second one. Problem is neither my neighbour or my mum has my work number... and I don't have their numbers without my mobile... ex directory too, apparently. I'm thinking there is a lesson to learn from this. I'll be putting my work number on the whiteboard in my kitchen just in case!! Nothing I can do short of driving home and back again, and that is not going to happen!! Supragal
Do you know the phone number or email of anyone else that would have your mum's number? (Sibling etc) I could email her, but thinking about it, it's not like I'd be able to 'do' anything anyway, I'm actually more worried about Stig, he didn't even want his breakfast and he's NEVER refused food in 3 years :S
