That looks too wide and cumbersome. you dont need somthing like that. Whatever you buy, you just need to keep it basic.

Often in the gym these things take a serious pounding. So you need somthing sturdy and lightweight which wont (or can) take too much damage if it falls from out of your pocket.

One of the most important things will be headphones. Your going to loose intrest very quickly if your head phones keep falling out and/or are uncomfortable and produce crappy sound. Bare that in mind. Thats just as important as the MP3 player itself imo.

Somthing like this i would personally go with http://www.mymemory.co.uk/MP3-Players/SanDisk/SanDisk-2GB-Sansa-Clip-FM-MP3-Player---Black i saw this in Currys the other day for £25. It was reduced. It is smaller then it looks, neat and perfect size for the job really.

As i mentioned earlier, imo it would be worth investing in some decent earphones. As more often then not the ones which come with these players (sub £100) are rubbish/average at best, and the good ones will set you back more then the MP3 player itself.

I have bought a few of the cheaper ones over the years from Ebay and some have lasted some havn't.

The missus has just bought me an Ipod shuffle for Christmas and although I said I would never go down the ipod route because I didn't want to pay for itunes. But, now they have made it so you can transfer anything to the ipods it is really great.

The suffle doesn't have a display which I thought might be a problem but using it for the last few days on the train this hasnt been a problem at all. Thoroughly reccomend the shuffle and it's so small too. Would reccomend that you get inner ear headphones though, but guess that;s a personal thing.

iTunes is totally free! and its very very easy to use! you do get it from the Apple website.

A lot of gyms have machines that support specific MP3 players now, they can charge them or let you control the music from the TV screens etc - might be worth checking with the gym as it might help you decide what to go for.

I suspect they will support iPods mainly though.
