Chris Wilson
I have a house that's tenanted, and coming empty. The wife didn't hit the ceiling when I mentioned it. I am getting on a bit, and realistically couldn't see myself running one for a year or two if I didn't do it soon. Its resale value is worrying, putting it into the wall even more worrying. It is probably one of the more practical F1 cars to run though if "practical" is the right word How many brave pills are left in the bottle...? As I said to Jane quoting whatshisnames T shirt, "Don't worry dear, it's just a recession". She likes the colour scheme, so that's good http://www.florentmoulin.com/fiche.php?num=177&langue=
MrRalphMan
HHHmmm... that's nice, but to sell a house to fund it in this of all times... That's some huge coh... cog... nuts mate.
marc_p
That's not as much as I would of expected, I can see the temptation:eyebrows:
Ewen
You are only young / alive once (delete as appropriate) Chris. The sensible thing would be to keep the bricks and mortar. What would make you happier is your call.

Ewen
I've often wondered about ultimate goals in life. Take a talent or private interest, what would be someone's pinnacle or zenith in that field. Is there any point at which someone could actually truthfully say they have attained a level that cant be bettered. Damian Hirst (sp ?) for example...I bet he aspires to cutting a pregnant woman in half and pickling her in formaldehyde...his lifes work is abbreviated until he reaches that star in the sky. Everything he has done up to that point is so-so, because it can be bettered. Would he want to pop his clogs as someone who pickled a cow, or someone who could have pickled a human but didn't quite get there. Someone who's passion is racing cars around a track may have a similar itch...a major step toward the peak may be possibly within reach. I'd have problems with this decision too. Ian C
How much is it? The 40k euros is just the total spent on revitalising it, not the price. I can't find a price...
Thorin
Go on then, how much is it?
JustGav
You can't take anything to the grave with you, so why not enjoy your life, especially if you are stable currently.
ivan
As long as it doesn't damage your health, get anything you want done off your chest now Chris. You never know what's round the corner and when it may all have to stop.

Glad I wasn't the only one scratching my head, looking for a price! Sell the house live your dreams, after all, and no offence, you're not getting any younger
Ewen
I've found the price, but in case Chris thought it wasn't relevant, I wont post it. Mind you, I'd have to sell my house to afford it too.

Ian C
The B190 is 145,000euro's! Ewen sent me the mystery price and it's a bit higher than even that I know you only live once but is an F1 car *really* as good as that to drive? With it's fancy-pants aerodynamics and probably the best engine ever built? Who am I kidding, sell the house already (just check the cambelt before taking it on the track and keep it out of the armco )
Chris Wilson
Just been reading the Cosworth DFR owners specification manual for the engine, over revving is VERY costly, even if it doesn't blow up http://www.cosworth.com/downloads/dfr_3500_spec.pdf

Therefore it is important that the crankshaft is rotated through 180o in the direction of rotation, at least once per week.
