AndrewOW
My stupid question of the day is: I received my new Xeno-Match main beam/fog lamp bulbs (to match my 4200k dipped beam HIDs) from the US today, and I've managed to easily change the main beam bulbs, but the fog lamps do not want to come out. I've managed to take the plug off the bulb housing, but am unable to work out how to get the bulb out of the headlamp. I can see a 'LOCK', and as the other bulbs just twist out, I assumed this would be the same. Can anyone shed some light (see what I did there?) on this, as its quite annoying to say the least?! michael
Might be a UK thing but isn't there a sprung wire retainer on the bulb that needs to be released? You remove the cover and then there is an additional wire that runs from that to the bulb. http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/week5.5/DCP_4103.jpg http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/week5.5/DCP_4069.jpg http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/week5.5/DCP_4071.jpg http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/week5.5/DCP_4102.jpg Sometimes it's easier to just take the light out to get access to the bulbs if you don't have tiny girl hands. AndrewOW
Thank you for the photos. I may have to take the headlight out, as you suggest, as I can't get the cover for the fog light bulb off. By the looks of it, its just a twist type movement, but it may just be very stiff, as it won't budge and considering there's hardly any room to move there. I know all about those metal clip type things, as all my previous cars had those, and they were a right pain to do up again. Its starting to get dark again already, so I may have another go tomorrow. EDIT: They are UK glass headlights BTW.
The Restorer
I think it may have been the foglight bulb on my car but the thing you twist had melted and so it would never line up properly. I think the first time I took it out I trimmed it down a bit with a Stanley knife. Used to have to remove it quite often too because the lights would mist up quite quickly. Re-sealing them was on my to-do list when I had the crash!
Nic
Might be a UK thing but isn't there a sprung wire retainer on the bulb that needs to be released? For future reference the J-spec headlights also have the same spring retainer.
AndrewOW
The part that I'm struggling to get off is the thing I've circled in red on this photo. I haven't taken the headlight out yet, but is it really a matter of just twisting it (anti-clockwise etc), as it seems like it doesn't want to come out at all?! Nic
Yes the black plastic cover just twists off anticlockwise.
