GazB
Anything that can do the 1/4 in 12 seconds or under is a fast car. I'd say that as well and 'Yes' i own a fast car In a straight line It may also have something to do with the driver This is a good question and quite interested at what other think of as fast. My first thoughts were Supra
Gaz6002
How fast a car laps the Nurburgring is a pretty good indicator IMO. Sub 9 min times for stock cars usually means something pretty special and sub 8 min is VERY quick.
Jazzy
It's all relative to what you've been used to. My Supra is a fast car, but how long will it remain a fast car to me? I find myself getting used to the power, so maybe 550bhp will need to become 600, 650, 700 before it again feels 'fast'
Carl_S
A fast car needs: 1) To be a car 2) To be fast And a very fast car, needs to be very fast. The Talbot Horizon is a very fast car. A car is not a subjective concept is it? Either something is a car or it isn't. But speed is subjective right? It can be. Maybe there are types of fastness here: 1) Actual velocity - how fast it's really travelling 2) Perceived capability of speed - how fast it looks and sounds 3) Relative velocity - speed in comparision to your speed 4) Subjective speed - how it fast feels 5) Real-world speed - how fast on the track 6) Acceleration - the rate at which speed increases Some cars look faster when they are actually parked, than others do when they are moving. So a parked Formula 1 car that does not have a fuel tank is a faster car than a supra travelling at 40 mph. So even though it won't drive, the F1 is the faster car. The Talbot Horizon may not be considered by most to be a fast car, but towed behind a space shuttle as it takes off, then released would make it pretty fast. This would make the Talbot Horizon faster than the f1 car. So The Talbot Horizon could beat an f1 car.

mikeyb10supra
I usually use 0-60 as an indicator and anything sub 5 seconds is fast
ivan
As I said, below 600 HP is SIMPLE for me. CCX, Veyron, and highly modified cars are the cars I considered FAST.Yes, you said that but I still have no idea WHAT YOU MEAN by it, maybe if you wrote more of it in capitals it WOULD HELP? It's confusing though, I mean there are cars with less than 600bhp that are "faster" than the cars you've mentioned around a track or point to point... but are they slow in your eyes? Methinks Johnnie has a very SIMPLE view of the concept fast. A fast car needs: 1) To be a car 2) To be fast And a very fast car, needs to be very fast. The Talbot Horizon is a very fast car. JamieP
Normal tyres or cheating? Normal road tyres (R888's) and i still got a crap 2 second 60ft, imagine how fast it would be with a good 60ft;) i know a guy that drag races and he told me for every 0.1 seconds you save on the 60ft you will save 0.2 seconds on your terminal. Its when your above 2.5 lots of practice is needed. Obviously getting down to 1.5 is what you are after but for an amature having fun i'd say 2 seconds is pretty decent on road tyres. I've even heard that 0.1 second could be a 0.3 second difference at the finish. There is definitely a lot in it as you are always going to be 0.1 seconds in front with acceleration giving a higher speed all the way through the run, all be it slightly. If 0.1 seconds meant 1mph faster then your speed at any given time would be 1mph more. This would easily add up a few fractions of a second by the end of the quarter. JamieP
so would a car in 3rd doing 30 too 100mph in 10.6seconds fast? i was told by my mate his car did this? No, 0-100 in 10 seconds is ok. my supra did 0-100 in 7 seconds according to my time slip.

Would certainly take a lot of torque to pull that low.
JamieP
I might be wrong but id have thought a stock supra could pull that off?
