Which ECU

Hey. I'm putting a 2j in a s14 shortly and due to being rhd I'll have to ditch the tt setup. Obviously I'll need a different ecu then so I've a quick one here on which ecu to get.

I've a few requirements, it has to take 2 maps and be easily switchable between the 2 and it'll have to have antilag and the ability to raise the rev limit.

Thats about it.

Any suggestions??

Ah, now that is pretty tempting.

Once I get the car up and running with the twin in place, I'll get them ditched, bolt up the big single and take it from there.

Just a quick one for ye, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes but I want to be sure, will the stock ecu let the car run with a big single, not drive but tick over etc...

Also when do you think a p&p will be out?? Will it make a difference if the engine is Supra or Aristo, manual or auto. It will be manual in my car but may originally be auto.

Yes you will be alright to run the engine with a single attached up to atmospheric pressure on the stock ecu and injectors.

Although the Plug and Play units are in motion they wont be fully released to around March at best guess.

The Solaris units at present can only be used on a Manual car but again they will be looking into the auto box controls later next year. There are other ecus out there which can control the auto boxes but i have not seen one yet that controls it perfectly.

And again, are the maps hot swappable or do you need to plug into the ecu??

You can fit a 2 way switch to flick between the maps or you can have a 8 position cal switch which allows you to flick through up to 4 maps and much more like rev limit reduction, traction spin targets etc

2 things?

Why do you want antilag, and secondly, why do you want swappable maps?

Antilag for a bit of fun, plus the car will get a bit of drag racing and I'll probably have a big turbo on it so it helps. As for swappable maps, I would be running both 95ron and 104ron e85. We don't get anything other than that over here, well we get e5 which is 99ron but very scarce. e85 is scarce aswell but can be easily found.

The catch with e5 is that some stations that get it don't always get it and so can be a bit of a pita when they say its there and the actually have 95.

That'd be fine, I don't see the car being ready before that.

As I said the engine might be out of an auto but my car will be manual. Would it be ok for that application?

That'd be very handy, nice safe road map on 95, then loopy map on 95, safe e85 104ron map, loopy stupid high boost 104ron e85 map.

mmmmm 104ron

Cool. Once the pnp is released I'll be on to you for a quote. Or if you wouldn't mind could you send me on a quote now for fitting and mapping of 2 maps and 4 maps with the s6 as it is now.

Ryan will explain more, but E85 is not a straight swap alternative for unleaded petrol, as it requires around 50% more volume/flow vs the same amount of petrol. so your fuel system will have to be Spec'd accordingly...

Thanks for the info but I'm well aware of the benefits and downsides to E85, I know of 4 people running E85 road cars here aswell as a drift car running it.

1600cc injectors and a pair of bosch 044, plus a lifter should do the trick nicely.
