marcAB10
it says in the supra guide that the SZ-R started one year after production in 1994 and all were manuals.

Supranature
Sounds like you have all been mis-informed. Hope I am wrong, but I was after SZ-R, and all that I went for were 6 speed. marcAB10
Sounds like you have all been mis-informed. Hope I am wrong, but I was after SZ-R, and all that I went for were 6 speed. I'm not sure what your saying here, but i will try and clear things up- you CAN get non-facelift SZ-R 5speed supras. The SZ-R started production in 1994 (one year after the launch) and uptill 1996 they were all manual 5speeds. In 1996 the SZ-R changed to the 6speed box. and in 1997 the facelift SZ-R 6speed began production. Have a look at the 'model difference chart'-http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=59334 Edited December 28, 2008 by marcAB10 (see edit history)

Homer
It's simple - they have it wrong, the car is an SZ, not an SZ-R.
marc_p
Didn't SZ-R's come with the LSD aswell (mine has one) Oh and mines a pre facelift 5 speed.
ilicos
Didn't SZ-R's come with the LSD aswell (mine has one) Oh and mines a pre facelift 5 speed. If you read the chart you will see that this was a factory option.
stevie_b
I think there's a few SZ owners (especially those with an LSD) who think they have a SZ-R. The VIN plate is probably the most reliable way to tell. I have a 5 speed SZ with LSD, but it's not an SZ-R.
marcAB10
Well I checked the vin plate and mine IS an SZ-R with LSD on a '95 plate.
Clinton
Well I checked the vin plate and mine IS an SZ-R with LSD on a '95 plate. Exactly the same here!
