AlexJames
Hi all, anyone have any problems with connection speeds while running VPNs? My dads laptop wont buffer anything on youtube, yet if you sit another laptop right next to it, both on the same wireless the other one is fine... As soon as you tube tries to buffer and fails, the cpu process drops so its not that the processor cannot handle it... maybe the RAM? It also has a VPN on it, could this be constantly looking for the connection and therefor halfing bandwidth? its connecting via wireless at 54kbps. Any ideas? Kranz
I've only got 512 Mb on this old Dell 'Attitude No wonder it is so crap on youtube!
Jake
YouTube is weird. I have a decent spec PC, 2GB of Ram and 20 mbit broadband, I can download stuff at 2.6MB per sec, but some YouTube vids take forever to download. Usually it's OK but now and then I come across the odd one that just won't download - try a different one and it's fine - go back to the problem one and it's still no good. Bobbeh
Its not your PC or your ISP typically, youtube is pretty inconsistant, they probably randomly put you on machines all over the place to download certain vids.. and remember when you're VPN'd into your dads connection it'll be downloading through their internet probably, so it'll be limited to what they supply.
