Car scratched - bad.

My GF rented a car for the festive period (a brand new nissan) and parked it near the place where she rented it (on a public road)

Apparently someone has scratched (deliberately keyed) the car really bad, all around the body.... :(

As the excess for the rental is £750, any suggestions tips, professionals in the area that could come over to assess the damage in order to get the actual cost of fixing it.

Any point getting the police involved to see whether we can get someone on CCTV?

I hired a car to drive my girlfriend, the nipper and a weekends worth of luggage upto Scarborough. Filling the all the forms, the receptionist offered an insurance package for silly things like bumps, cracked windscreen and scratches. Another rip-off? On the way, a stone smacked and cracked the windscreen. I'm glad I took that insurance cover.

got a mobile damage repairer to come over and check it out - £240 to sort it out.

we will call around for a couple of more quotes tomorrow.

Beware these mobile repair people. That damage in this weather outside. If that damage is down both sides and deep you'll need the sides painted. All IMO of course:)

advice taken onboard....will try our luck with the rental place when we take it back on monday. if they give us hassle, well fork out the 250 to get it fixed.....

Once they have seen the damage the 250 wont be on offer. It will be the 750.
