42' TV bargain

On Boxing day Currys are meant to be reducing the price of a 42' LG LCD 1080p 100Hz Telly

http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/025057

Currently £978. According to staff and a few forums it'll be £550 on Boxing day. Sale will start at 7pm online Christmas day so you could have it delivered the day after I believe.

Quite a bargain....

Edit : my friend who's an assistant manager at the local huge Tesco has just let me know there's a 40' Sony Bravia 1080p going on sale for £400 Boxing day.

I believe it's the Sony 40V4000. I've only been told this, not found anything else official apart from word of mouth from my friend though.

For £400!! dammit! We have the older V3000 model and thats fine, paid 650 for that back in April.

Very good buy for that price. (both sets are!(LG one I mean))

Sorry folks, I may have been misled on the Sony front, as the tesco direct sale is now on and no sign of the '40 Sony being reduced :( the 32 is reduced but the 40 isn't.

May be in store though

Still, I think the LG is a good bargain at £549... may pop over on boxing day to check it out.

Mmmm I love being on call on Christmas day and waiting for engineers..

I'm really in the market for a telly at the moment as I am going to finish our extension off over the holidays. I am still undecided whether to go for a 32" or a 37"......:search:

The room is only 11' x 11' so I imagine a 32" would be ok but they look so small....

H.

Take the distance from where you're going to mount the telly to where you're going to sit in inches. Divide that by 2.5 and that'll give you the diagonal size of the telly you should buy.

i.e if you're sitting 9 foot away (108 inches) - 108/2.5 = 43.2 so a 42 would be the optimum size.
