hogmaw
I sold a record on ebay to a guy in the US for nearly £3000. He paid promptly with paypal and included a payment for shipping insurance. He didn't give me any special instructions nor did he ask for me to declare a lower value, so I sent it off insured for £3000. Record is delivered but he is bitching that he has import taxes to pay, so he won't accept it and will return it. Question: should this all go sour (he is already accusing me of being 'unfair'), will he be able to reclaim his money from paypal IF I have withdrawn the money from paypal to my bank account? In other words, will paypal be able to take money from my debit card which is linked to the account, if he makes a claim? IMO I have done nothing wrong, but paypal seem to have rules of their own... Jake
Yes. They are bastards I would immediately remove your card detail from your PP account and also cancel any direct debit from PP to your bank account.
jamesmark
Can you not start a buyer dispute with him? I do not really know much about disputes. He would need to have a valid reason on why he returned as I do not think defrauding customs over there is acceptable.

To be fair paypal have been good over many, many transactions over the years, but when there is 3k at stake I'm not taking any risks! Scott
To be honest i wouldn't worry about it as you have done absolutely nothing wrong. Keep a hold of all comms between both of you so that, if necessary, you can prove he was trying to be fraudulent. Paypal have always been fair with me during disputes. As long as you are in the right and very clear with your situation and perspective then everything should be ok. I have seen disputes where people in the right have ended up screwed because they have given rubbish responses to claims etc.
