Carl_S
I freely admit that too. The novetly of poor spelling has worn off, and I feel ready to more onto greener, more germanic pastures. Merry Christmas to you, Andrew.
imi
Good thread. Dont agree with the laziness comment, personally it is about choice, it is about convenience & efficiency. If I can find everything I need under one roof for an acceptable (not cheapest) price then, I choose to shop there. Also agree with the comments made about the councils making it harder and inconvenient to shop in the high streets. Moving forward, I can see the banks having a tough time competing with the likes of these superstores in the retail banking sector.
stevie_b
so when we gain something, we loose something else, we gain the multi-orgasmic temple of mammom, and loose the quaint quickie with bhaji aftertaste.
Nick
Have you noticed that petrol stations are changing too? Used to be you had a choice of a few magazines, some car essentials like screen wash, and a few snacks and cold drinks. Now you have to walk through a bloody M&S to get to a till, and there's people buying baguettes instead of petrol. Half of the people are there just to buy food and the forecourt is chaos. Wez
Have you noticed that petrol stations are changing too? Yes and not for the better. You use to be able to buy car essentials like oil, screen wash, jump leads and bulbs etc, even random pieces of tube and hose clips, now as you say they are food shops that stay open late. Chewie
Tescos! Chavtastically brilliant I did all my Xmas shopping there. Food, toys, electricals, gift wrap everything. I luv it. I wish they had those trolleys you get in the builder merchants for lugging out the plasma TVs.

RobSheffield
The major problem with MFI was the lack of customer service. If Tesco can offer the same, and the same fuzzy warm feeling customer service they are known for (insurance call centres are good at that) they can make it work.
