Brake pads????? Which is best?

Recommended Posts

I am running a supra SZ with a twin turbo conversion, I have non turbo brakes on my supra. I am unsure if they are the larger optional extras or just the standard setup. How will I know which I have?

Also I am looking at just up grading my pads and would like too know what pads are the best for my supra.

I have been told that Greenstuff pads seem to be worse than OEM.

So I would not like too go down that road.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Mat.

thanks for the link steve i dont have a set of them. i bet they cost a lot.

~£1k for all 4 new disks & calipers. Depending on whether you need them or not, look for used sets as they crop up from time to time.

if you fit 'fast road' pads you may find it takes you a while to get up to the pace of cooking the J-Spec brakes. My first trip to the Nurburgring I was nowhere near confident or fast enough to find their limits; a year later it was a different story and they really held me back. That's track use however; I'd be amazed (and mildly concerned) if you find their limits on the road.

Bignum - a big track addict - added some basic ducting from underneath his car to his (UK spec) brakes; you could try that as well as it seems to work well.

thanks steve. i am just looking too stop my car abit better than stock as i have now got a TT lump in.

Very sensible and commendable. Lots of people do power first, then handling, and if there is any money left... brakes last. :(

My first Supra was a stock TT with the smaller brakes. Like I say it was perfectly fine for my first year of getting used to the Supra, but I'd cook them in 3 corners if I got into my old car now. ;)

(IME the smaller the brakes, the less warning you'll get of them exceeding their limits , and the longer they seem to take to lose that excess heat and get back into full operating ability :()
