Tannhauser
Does anyone know what type it is? richie It's very likely to be Tegenaria gigantea, the giant house spider. It lives on a diet of plasticine and is the only spider capable of captaining a tug or small schooner. OK, I made the last sentence up, but I think it is Tegenaria spp.
Tannhauser
Yep, just a common female Giant European house spider Actually, I think it's the males that are the big ones, so it could be a male given its size. Plus, I can see its knob in the pictures.

Well according to Wiki they are anyway

Supradoopa
House Spider:blink: Well it lives outside now, well till it gets cold i suppose and knocks on the door! It'll be back. My mum always told me spiders come in two's, since that day whenever i've found a spider I seem to find another one lurking about. I can't stand them, I had to phone one of my mates (female) once to get rid of one, how embarrasing is that

NatsupraTT
That is definatly a house spider Imagine finding one of these in your bath then http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n80/Pinkyrm/camelspider.jpg
Tannhauser
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_house_spider Most female spiders are larger than the males. Well according to Wiki they are anyway According to your own source, the males are the ones that are more variable and develop very large leg spans. Also, the males tend to be the active ones that are seen around the house, searching for females. However, I think you are right*. Following a bit of googling, it appears that males have slimmer abdomens and swollen pedipalps, whereas in the pics, it looks as though that individual has neither. [/spider talk] *Curses.
