keancy
As it says on the Tin, I washed my 6 week old Samsung G600 this morning. Was in the Cycle for about 20 minutes when I realised. Once I fished it out and dry-ed it up I left it on boiler for several hours. When I attempted to switch it on nothing happened. Phoned Orange who said use a hair dryer........ OK so I tried that too and about 30 minutes later my phone came on and displayed the Samsung logo and asked me to insert my Sim, when I did that it went to unlock code at which point I had to give up as I couldn't type anything in. Well I thought this is quite a god sign I suppose, another few hours on the boiler and I just tried again, now it's more apparent there is water under the screen and when I put in the battery I just get a black screen That it then or shall I just leave it alone till tomorrow and see?? Anyone ever done this and rescued their phone successfully?? Suggestions appreciated.
Scott
I've did it once and managed to get my phone operational by drying it out properly before even thinking about turning it on. My worry is that if there is water in it and you turn it on you could create lots of shorts which may cause physical damage. My advice would be to seperate it as much as you possibly can to allow it to dry then try again. I was with orange a while back and i lost my phone. They replaced it even though i wasn't insured, you could give that a go if you can't get it working.

Kranz
I stuck mine infront of an air conditioning unit to dry out (the air comes out VERY dry) after it fell in the dog's water bowl. 8 Hours there in component form and it worked fine. Once its been switched on with water in it I think its toast TBH

Homer
Doh! Managed to do the same last year... I left it over a warm radiator overnight and evenutally it would start up, but it wouldn't make any calls. Even though the Orange insurance plan covered "accidental" damage this was apparently not covered as it "wasn't taking appropriate care" of the phone. Turned out there's no accidental damage they cover anyway! If you're on a contract and the phone is over 6-12 month old you might be due a free upgrade anyway. Might be worth trying your local shop to see what you can get. In my case I was given £50 back for the phone and a newer replacement, for free!! The pin card should be fine, they're almost indistructable, I once heard a saying that nuclear war broke out there'd be nothing left but cockroaches and sim cards

So no upgrade just yet. He hardly ever uses his phone so my need is bigger then his at moment lol. Thanks all for the replies and suggestions tho it is appreciated. Gerry
Suppose if nothing else works you could try Tumble Drying it on the high setting for a couple of hours : : : : sorry, didn't have any sensible suggestions
keancy
I am actually using the Phone again now and apart from a few Water marks under the screen and the sound being a little quieter then before it is working just fine. I put it in a Sealed bag of Rice on top of my Boiler for two days and it seems to have done the trick. Quite impressed with Samsungs quality. Havard
Me too , thanks again everybody for suggestions too x Glad you are sorted!! Am I the only one who anaged to drop his phone in a bucket of fence paint?? Last year whilst doing my fences I got a call from my dad. The phone was safe in my pocket but somehow I managed to catch the top of the phone on my pocket as I took it out..... After a bit of comedy juggling I managed to lose control of it completely and it dropped into the paint bucket..... I got it out but thought it would be good to hose it down with the hose pipe....... This is not a good idea btw..... H.

SMiFFAD
If the phone was off when you washed it, and only powered up again once all the water had dried out, their s a chance it might live. If it was wet n powered though its probably foobar'd We've stuck a couple of mobiles, even a laptop that went for a swim in someones bath, in a vacuum chamber at work before to evaporate all the water, all of them started working again

Pot
Phoned Orange who said use a hair dryer........ Which as we all know pumps out some pretty hot air, and if you have water in tight spaces (And over circuit boards) it can get a lot hotter than the hot air the drier's blowing out... I think Orange told you that so you fecked your phone up (And had to buy a new one)... The best advice from what I've read is to remove the battery straight away, and leave it for a couple of days in the airing/boiler cupboard, gentle heat slowly evaporating the moisture...
