ellis
Just driving into work and the driver's side HID light starts flickering away. No loose connections that I can find. Is this the bulb on its way out or the HID pack itself? Thoughts anyone?
marbleapple
I dont have hids and my technical experience is poor but I would hope that the bulbs wuold go before the HID pack.

AndrewOW
I have noticed that once mine have been on for a few minutes, they each in turn flicker once, then are fine. I don't know if this is anything to do with a start-up exercise, or warm up, but maybe yours isn't doing that correctly, and is getting stuck in a 'loop' type thing? ellis
Its only one side though. Passenger side comes on and stays on, drivers side flickers a bit then goes off. Tries to start again if you turn the lights off then back on but just does the same.
AndrewOW
Sounds like the ballast pack isn't sending enough voltage through. Maybe an idea to get a new set? Or if you want to fiddle about, up to you http://www.visionbulbs.com is where I got mine from, and they're much cheaper than most. From the good old USA
Ben-san
Ellis, I had mine do exactly the same. It turned out to be the power connection on the balast which had built up some deposits due to it's exposure to water where it had been mounted. Also, check that the condition of the connectors and the fuse on the relay.

Konrad
It would be also good to put harness in if you did not put it already. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HID-Relay-Harness-9005-9006-HID-Lightning-Headlamps_W0QQitemZ280289740304QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item280289740304&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
ellis
Looks like the bulb might have gone - bit of twiddling and its given up the ghost now!!
hoff
Can you get the bulbs seperately? I take it you can.
Jamil
Just driving into work and the driver's side HID light starts flickering away. No loose connections that I can find. Is this the bulb on its way out or the HID pack itself? Thoughts anyone? I had the same problem with mine, it turned out to be the ballast, some water had seeped into it through a very small crack. I sent the faulty ballast back which was replaced very quickly
ellis
Just swapped both bulbs over and its not the bulb - looks like it could be the ballast after all - either faulty wiring or its packed in!
razza
ballasts normally give up the ghost before the bulbs unfortunately
ellis
Yep, looks like the ballast. Have reconnected the original lights for now whilst I await new bits - cheers all for the advice.
razza
try visionbulbs for ballasts, as members of this club they give 3yrs warranty on ballasts, which is worth having, unlike the 3 months of whiffbitz...

_Shane_
I have 2 hid kits in my supra, the same thing started happening to me one day, what the cause of the problem was, one of the hid boxes was after coming off its bracket and was lying up against the other box and was causing an interfarence with it. Just moved it away and problem was sorted
