Chris Wilson
Old HKS dampers knock for England, as a rule
spidermonkey
Old HKS dampers knock for England, as a rule Can anything be done to remidy this? (apart from new suspension)
Chris Wilson
Unfortunately they are usually not cost effective to repair, so if you do find it's the dampers themselves I suggest you renew them. I can probably overhaul them, but unless they are almost new it's not worth it.
n boost
Might be your top mount bearings which are noisy. These can normally be replaced or greased back up but dont cause any performance problems, just a bit of noise.
shaft
same problem with my rear tein super streets. are these worth repairing?
Bazzagt4
Old HKS dampers knock for England, as a rule I think this is the same problem I am having with my HKS Hypermax Coilovers. If you run over a pot hole you get a nasty clunk. only on the rear though, front seem fine.
shaft
exact same with my tein....driving me mental (read ireland has SHITTY roads)
Multics
Yep same story here, had a set of old Tein HA, the damping was gone it was like on springs only although they weren't leaking. Top mount pillow balls knocking like mad as well. I didn't bother repairing them, got a new pair of Japspeed coilovers, I'm really impressed with the quality but they don't make them for the JZA80. n boost
My teins knocked on my supra and now my nismo mke the same racket on my skyline! You do get used to it and it only ever happens at rear topmounts. If you get the bearing out and take it to a local bearing place, then they may be able to match one up for you or jut grease up the original and that shoud reduce the noise a fair bit. harley-jm
I had the same problem twice and on both occations it turned out to be loose drop links since they had been undone them to change over the suspension.

n boost
The rubber blocks where the boot hatch is. These go hard and make a knocking type of sound when they rub.
