cainhead
Hello, Could anyone give me any info on Nissan Figaro's. The girlfriend would really like one and I really keen to help her out. Any kind of specs, what price and are they reliable? She is not to good at car mechanics, and we also live quite far apart. Many thanks in advance for any replys. Ian W
reliable enough as they're based on a Nissan Micra iirc. Only problem is the age (obviously parts start to wear) and body parts are harder to get hold of as there's no UK car of this nature. Lbm
http://www.autosupplyuk.com/ There's also the Daihatsu Copen to consider.

SupraAyf
Send a pm to a guy called SupraAyf he has done up a few and may still have one, even if he hasn't he should be able to give you some pointers I'm here Colin mate:d Yep, if you need to know something about Figgy's then go ahead and ask matey. We have two Figgys at the moment. One that has a mint engine/interior with 36K on the clock but this needs respraying as per my normal Figgy projects. The other is the wifes. It's painted in Flamingo Pink and is likely to go to Jurgen when I get back in order for him to sell it on her behalf - as we need the space in the garage. It needs a few very minor things to finish it and then its gone:) Again, ask away if you need some advice;)
SupraAyf
http://www.autosupplyuk.com/ Good link for the advice that the associated autosupplyuk forum gives to Figgy owners. However, they claim to import all of their Figgy's from Japan, direct, but they buy most of their cars from the Southampton Docks like every other Figgy dealer;) They slap 1000's on the price tag as they claim to be the best:rolleyes:

SupraAyf
Here's the pink one I did for the wife - still needs a bit of chrome trim and a half-moon gasket and we're done
SupraAyf
Glad you know this Turns out google is not entirely my friend then. I know all of the big UK Figgy Dealers - we used to stand next to each other at the auctions:D The Fig used to be one of the easiest ways for a car dealer to make money - the chicks love them;)
cainhead
Thanks for all your help with this, and to everyone else. I will be in contact once she is closer to making a decision. Cheers
marc_p
I really don't see the appeal of them, each to their own though. It would be interesting to know what attracts some people to them though.
JamesF
I think these are ace. They look like a cross between a frog eyed sprite and a hat. What are they like to drive? Dont they have a little Total thread hijack by the way.
Faye
My mate has one, and she gets more attention in the Fig than my Supe does. For her its a cute car which is very different to every other car in the small auto category. To drive, I found the driving position a little uncomfortable for long periods - the sitting position is quite upright and seat adjustment not that great so I ended up with leg ache after a couple of hours driving They are by no means a fast car though and taking the car over 80 resulted in the bonnet starting to flap a bit, which was a bit worrying, but then its not really a car designed for speed, more a gentle driver. The boot space is reasonably rubbish, but the back seat isn't bad if you're looking for some storage for shopping etc. If you're going to get one, the radio is a common fail point and look to see whether its been refurbed as they can develop a habit of eating CDs. Also check the state of the roof, and whether the heater works on all settings. Its a fun car, cheap to run, but expensive to buy for a 17 year old car imo. Dont they have a little Total thread hijack by the way. A 1991 car with 1982 engine technology (i.e. derived from the old Micra K10 block). Simple to fix and parts are always available from either importers or the local/national scrappies. Change the suspension and a few things and they drive like new. The only problem is that a good number of Figs have not been looked after and most of the dealers that sell them in the UK cut corners, therefore, you very often get shoddy examples from them too. There are a number of things that should be done on a Figgy to make sure it will last for years to come. Sadly, most Figgy dealers don't get all of the points sorted prior to sale. I know all of the ins and outs of the Fig so drop me a line Cainhead (nice name:D)
