Chris Wilson
Anyone here got experience of powder coating electrostatic guns and equipment? I am thinking it would pay me to do this, on a small scale, in house (no, not IN THE HOUSE Jane.....) Ta!
Guigsy
ive seen it on tv a few times, looks very cool. Wonder what it would take to do a whole car....
JamieP
Lol:D even if possible you would never get a nice enough finish to do a complete car.
colsoop
I would personally say it is worht it but does depends on what sort of parts you want to coat. Do you have access to an oven of suitable size for said parts ? If i was still doing it i would have invested in a powdercoating kit, although the professionals do a good job they were never great with masking up parts or when i masked them taking the care when cleaning them up. Quite often i would get stray bits of coating which required time to sort out. The americans have some good selections of powder colours and additives should you wish to matcha finish or colour. Stratty
I had my wheels powdercoated a few weeks ago. A really good finish and much better than painting them as I dont have to put up with scratches and chips.
Tricky-Ricky
Had a friend in business who did powder coating, i used to do the sandblasting for his components, but I'm afraid i never really did get all the info on the process, other than all parts must be scrupulously clean and preferably blast cleaned, so you're likely to need a small blasting setup as well. Chris Wilson
I have a bead blasting cabinet more than big enough to take whatever I envisage powder coating, and can buy an old commercial oven of suitable size cheaply. It'll be relatively small stuff, so nothing like a car , even a wheel would be bigger than most things I'd want to tackle. Thanks for the links
