i'm a bit intimidated by it if they thrust thier knowlege aggressively in by face, but if they are modest and relaxed and secure about their knowledge and the passing on of it thats cool. i met this female racing driver once and asked her out for a cup of tea. she declined my offer.

She knocked you back , good god what a silly silly woman .

She regrets it now i bet my man ;)

:innocent:

I don't really get the thing about I'm a and I know a lot about cars- Please accept me...??!

I clearly don't know a lot about cars and I'm a bloke, so I guess that makes me a homo.

If you talk sense and are knowledgeable it will come across, whether in person or on a forum. If you don't know what you're on about, nice people, kind people on here will give you a gentle reminder of your station.

Now then, I'm off to make Carl S a nice cup of tea.

as long as they can drive then its all cool

Why? There are plenty of blokes who can't drive but own them! And as for your later posts criticising tasteless mods, people in glass houses etc!

I think its great if women are into cars, sooner go for a blast round a country lane with a woman who likes cars and driving than spend 8 hours of my life that I'll never get back looking at handbags and sparkly bits! :D

didnt Jeremy Clarkson have something to say on the lines of this. Apparently any woman racing driver etc. is always targeted as a sex symbol etc. I think what it is, its not the norm for women to be into cars. my girlfriend passed her test recently and i let her drive the sup. straight away people were starring (the car does get attention) but when they saw a girl driving it everyone was turning around. All i can say is at japfest, the women were drifting better than the men........................

Surely if you are paranoid about being treated differently due to your gender you could have not mentioned your gender on the forum and put up a different avatar and then no one would know and this pointless thread would not have been required.

The most annoying thing about some women on this forum is their need to point out their gender and then complain about being treated differently because of it. How many people on the forum do you assume are men because they don't have stereotypically femanine user names and avatars.

There are many women on the forum who do not play the gender card. The best way to be treated as an equal car enthusiast is to act like one.

Rant over!

i'm not playing the gender card i simply asked your opinons on girls into cars and i merely stated that i thought i wasn't getting replies in my thread because i'm a woman. Homer pointed out to me that this is the way it is here and i said that was grand. Where have you seen me moaning about it since??

Claire! you seem like a lovely lil girl and i know things like that can put you down but seriously dont let it get to you. forget about it, enjoy yourself. i mean i have never looked down upon any man or woman. if anyone does look down on you or patronise (dont know if i spelt it right) you then ignore it, at the end of the day its your car not anyone elses. to all those people show them your not bothered and they themselves after a while they will feel stupid.

I do get the odd comments from lads saying oh is that your boyfriends car or when you drive past you mite see a girl flick her hair or something when she hears you and to their horror they see its a girl driving :D. love that. i'm not at home every nite cribbing about it i just thought be a good thread to see wat ye had to say and also hear from the other women also.

I personally don't think its got anything to do with your gender. You will notice that a few of anyone's thread just die without any comment.

It does depend who's online at the time, and if they haven't been on for a while, depends if they can be bothered to trawl through all the new posts when they get back on, IMO, of course. :)

Maybe it would be worth you 'bumping' your threads once in a while, just to jog people's memories.

Anyway, most would do anything to watch you eat a Creme Egg, so keep that in mind too :D

Good post sir! :D

I don't have a problem with girls knowing lots about cars: quite the opposite, in fact! ;)

To get helpful responses to technical questions in any internet forum, the questions need to be as detailed as possible and with reasonable spelling. People who don't do these often get ignored. Bad spelling/illegible posts for non-techie questions illicit lots of responses, but they don't tend to be helpful to the OP either. :)

Claire: I've seen some of your posts, and it sounds like you know your way around cars and computers. Just ensure you ask clear questions if you want a technical response.
