ivan
Ok, quick run through for you... When going down through the gears... (6th to 1st) dip clutch - take out of gear and put it one down - blip throttle - release clutch... That's not double de-clutching though AlexJames, it's just blipping the throttle when changing down. You got closer right at the beginning of the thread, with a little clarification by Soopdog.

I think when most people say 'double clutching' they mean 'matching revs'
ivan
But Benkei was asking you "how hard is it to learn double de-clutch" not match revs.
benkei
Yeh.. I just needed to know the steps so I could go over it in my head before attacking my car with noob attempts to double de-clutch! I think they're both very similar techniques, different people will use each and find the one which suits them best. Now, what is the difference? Surely holding down the clutch so it doesnt engage would have the same effect as going into neautral, right? So matching revs just skips the neutral gear selection. Nicolai
I thought dubble clutching was only used by truckdrivers

Basically, it is the same except when double-clutching or de-clutching, you use the same method but instead of going down a gear straight away... Say from 6th gear...clutch in...neutral...blip throttle...clutch in and go into 5th gear... The exact same method is used when going up the gears... The point in blipping the throttle is an avarage of speed so that none is lost... Just like F1 driver's do for example, when they break for a corner, they don't slow down too drastically, they balance the throttle so that you get a good speed avarage... Different circumstances but the same sort of principle...
