Supradoopa
My friend just asked me a tech question about her car, not much info but here goes... Apparently on start up she's engages 1st gear, the car moves then loses all power and stalls. I'll try get more info out of her Any ideas guys? Supradoopa
No more info, every gear now loses power from start up, I thought it could be the alternator. I've told her to get a mechanic to look at it anyhow
bignum
Thats normal for an mg aint it,

Supradoopa
She doesn't seem too bothered at all, oh well. It's only an MG after all lol
tbourner
She needs to lift the clutch slower.
jacko
My mums got a ZR160, the VVC spazzed out and whacked a piston into a few valves, bloody things
stevie_b
What model of MG is it? I would think the older MGs have exposed spark leads, and maybe they're past their best. Difficult to diagnose without buying a new set and seeing if it makes a difference. Not an MG, but my Rover Metro suffered from slightly moist electrics. You couldn't see it, but just a bit of water or oil is enough to allow the spark to find an easier path than through the spark plug. Damp winter mornings will exacerbate this, of course. Supradoopa
I think it's a ZR180, from what she was saying. It's so hard to explain from what another person says on the phone. I'll let you all know when she takes it to the garage though
