Kim1978
I got myself a pair of TTE wheels a few weeks ago and now I will buy a set of tyres. The wheels are 8.5x18 in the front and 10x18 in the rear. What do you guys run and what do you think about 285/30s in the rear and 265/35s in the front? movistar
I use 235/40/18 conti's on the front and 265/35/18 on the back, iam on stock suspension and have no problems at all with these....some people use 245 on the front. A word of advice dont try 285/35/18 on the back as they will rub ...not unless you want to roll the arches? look in my garage for pics....good choice mate! Kim1978
love the look of those TTEs on your stock silver supra. Suits very well, but I will be honest, 265s on your supra looks somewhat thin. And yes, I have plans to roll the arches.
Burna
Correct tyre sizes are: Front = 245/40/18 Rear = 275/35/18 I fitted Bridgestone Potenza RE050a's (make sure they are not the run flats), very happy with them. Glad you finally got some Kim
SimonB
Correct tyre sizes are: Front = 245/40/18 Rear = 275/35/18 That's what I use, it gives you the closest to standard rolling circumference. I've always used Eagle F1s.

Yeah i hear what your saying...iam planing to drop the car down a little so this should look better...and when i got the wheels i had a cracking deal on these tyres:innocent:...thanks for the heads up thou, i will keep it in mind when iam due for a new set. Good luck with the arch rolling:)
Kim1978
Thanks guys. After I saw Burnas and Michaels black stock UK TT with TTEs I was sold on them. I checked both these tyre calcs http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and both say the 285/30 combo over the 275/35 is closer to the standard rolling circumference(?) Sorry for haggling about this. I like the wheels wide and with a low profile - I think that gives the car more of a race look...even if that means a rougher ride. AndrewOW
Maybe the cheap tyres I recently bought aren't suitable then.

Sorry for haggling about this. I like the wheels wide and with a low profile - I think that gives the car more of a race look...even if that means a rougher ride. After looking at your attached web sites, i did a calculator on my tyre size and i think you will find i have it right as it's within 0.2% @60 mph..so at 59.99 mph i will have a reading of 60 mph and we all no speedos are not that accurate anyhow. I do believe the 235 on the front reduce the risk of tramlining too over all the package i have feels very well set up...i would recommend rethinking rolling the arches as this would be a costly venture to reverse once carried out and it will also act as a rust trap. I do understand we all like our car's to look the way we love em to look, if that makes sense...just be careful you don't ruin it..have a look on the forum i remember looking at a post once where a guy had put 295's on[sHOCK][/sHOCK] imho i didn't look too good...but hey that just my opinion. If your looking to get good grip think quality tyre not width....or if your just going on just looks then go on what you love the look of, but as you said the ride can be compromised. Hope i have at least given you some idea's of what to think about and i have not come across too harsh...good luck:) have a look here.. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=143818&highlight=295 Edited December 17, 2008 by movistar (see edit history)
AndrewOW
A word of advice dont try 285/35/18 on the back as they will rub ...not unless you want to roll the arches? Is this definitely the case, as I need to know quite soon?!
merckx
Is this definitely the case, as I need to know quite soon?! Possible but not certain at all as it obviously depends on the offset of the wheel. There'll be plenty of members on here will be using that size without any rubbing. I need to get them on this week, before I go to AFR to get the car serviced on friday. The F1s are nearly done. I'm slipping about quite a lot at the moment, and I don't want to risk it with a journey that far!
