Frank Bullitt
Sony Bravia 50" rear projection
Frank Bullitt
44' Projection TV here, you can't get much older or lower quality than that! Still does it's job well enough and can't justify moving to a plasma one yet. Imo rear projection gives you the best value for money. Plasmas still get screen burn-in which is ok if you want to replace your tv every 2 years and don't forget the HUGE electricity bill on top LCDs are getting better and the price is dropping but still too pixelated. Pot
Sony Bravia 50" rear projection For some reason I cheered just then, and thought... With a CRT PC monitor (17"), it was nice and easy to whack it up to resolutions like 1600x1200, yet on an LCD it's strictly limited to the pixels... So... If someone had a nice fat CRT, like one of those rear projection jobs, is it only the input feeds that'll mean it can't do HD?...

Or just look at the replacement of mine..... http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665153955

I think you will find that burn-in is pretty much a thing of the past with regards to the latest Plasma's. My Panasonic does not suffer from this even after leaving the pc on for long periods. As for power consumption, Plasma does consume more than lcd but in the scheme of things it's un noticeable on your monthly bill. It would be a mere blip next to your heating, washing machines and dishwashers. Certainly not something I'd even consider when buying one. If you are buying for picture quality then Plasma is the only choice at present.
Digsy
I bought a plasma TV when they were still pretty rare and I heard all about the screen burn scare stories on AVForums. Four years down the line and not even a hint of it. Plus I use it as a PC monitor (can't get much worse that than for stationary images). Granted you can't be quite as blase as you can with an LCD or a CRT, but I don't think they deserve the reputation they have got.

Burna
I've got the Toshiba 36ZP38 and it works well, the picture is brilliant, good sound etc Snap! The girlfirend has an all singing all dancing Sony 42" LCD. I hate having to watch anything on it as the picture quality is awful compared to my Toshiba picture frame. stevie_b
I'd just like it to be 10" bigger Wouldn't we all.... I've only got a single TV in the house, and that's a 25" Sony non-widescreen CRT. An ancient thing now, the casing is black so that dates it a bit, and weighs a flippin' tonne. I picked it up second-hand when I moved in several years ago, and it hasn't put a foot wrong. I wouldn't want a huge screen (living room couldn't carry it off), but something flat and widescreen would be nice.

Lbm
oooooh.... who knows eh? maybe..... we'll never know! Just looked at the results. Maybe he believed the ratio of non-crt owners to crt owners was exactly 2 to 1. This is correct at the present time of 12.35pm
