i just sent a email to our conuncil to get speed bumps and parking permits on my street. (believe it or not!) so this is whats in my clipboard....

I am contacting you regarding a couple of things that i would like to see on the road i live on. The roads surrounding the area have speed bumps on them. Yet ours does not. ****** road has terraced housing (no front yards) with pavements and parking down both sides and it can be dificult to see people crossing between cars. Cars often come down our road quickly (40mph+) although there is a 20mph speed limit in place. There is also a crossroad halfway up the street which they will come flying through. As people park on both sides of the road the junction has dificult visability.

I spoke with my neighbour yesterday and apparently not long ago there was an accident at the junction which involved 2 cars but damaged more because of the proximity of the parked cars and the speed of people traveling on the road. During our conversation which was on the way back from parking our cars some distance from our house. We discussed that it would be usefull if our road had some kind of parking restriction or permits. With ****** road exiting onto Wellingborough road it is used in the evening for people visiting pubs and resteraunts to park. If i return to my house on friday or saturday night after 7pm i am unable to park on my street. Occasionaly i have had to park several streets away. I haved lived in StJames and the permit system there works well and i think a permit system should be introduced here. I realise we have no "right" to park outside our houses, however i feel we should at least be able to park on the same road! Im sure you can understand that walking backwards and forwards with shopping from a few streets away gets tiresome!

I also cant help thinking of some of the more elderly people on our road who cannot park close and then have to walk a distance to get home.

I go on their website to check out the weekend weather forecast in the lake district.

A fell top assessor goes to the top of Helvellyn every day in the winter months to check out the conditions including wind, snow and ice for a crucial weather service.

Can anyone recognise the ridge, I've been along it to the top of Helvellyn on numerous occasions. (I'm scared of heights so I have to push myself)
